JOB PURPOSE

The primary responsibility of this position will be to manage the daily Parts operation; which includes assisting the Parts Sales Representatives as needed, and planning, organizing and controlling the overall operations of the Parts Warehouse

The Parts Manager is responsible for running a profitable and efficient parts department. To accomplish objectives through the use of proper purchasing procedures, inventory control, staff utilization, security, pricing, merchandising, displaying, and advertising. The Parts Manager must be an investment advisor and profit producer.   Position requires Manger to maximize profit through the effective operation of the Parts Department by satisfying customers’ expectations, monitor and control resources and assets in a way consistent with NMC’s  profit  requirements while maintaining and improving customer relations, and to maximize departmental profitability through the sale of parts, accessories and where possible, other value added products and services.

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY JOB DUTIES                                                                                                                           




















































  • Builds and manages a competent team, including both Warehouse and Parts staff, by effectively hiring, training and developing employees, delegating work assignments, writing and conducting performance appraisals, coaching and counseling, and administering disciplinary procedures.

  • Develop and maintain effective parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.









  • Ensure that the Parts Department achieves its financial objectives thru ongoing examination of management accounts, system information, and daily operating controls.









  • Review profitability of all lines to ensure that high margin sales are maximized and encouraged and low margin sales are reviewed to determine how profitability might be improved.









  • Assist in maintaining a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department and over the counter customers. Work with vendors to maintain the best prices and discounts









  • Maintain effective control of expenses in line with objectives by viewing daily sales and profit reports, periodic examination of management accounts and reviewing other business information.



            







  • Effectively manage, coach, and train a team of employees to work with customers and coworkers. Establish and maintain training needs analysis to provide satisfactory levels of knowledge, skill, job satisfaction and cost-effective development of all Parts personnel.

  • Aggressively develop new customer base while growing existing customer accounts.









  • Maintain stock breadth and depth at levels sufficient to satisfy demand and sales targets while not creating excessive costs and risk of obsolescence.
















Education and Experience:


  • High School degree required and/or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of leadership experience required.

  • 3 years of experience in Parts Management required.

  • 3-5 years of experience with a CAT dealer or equivalent heavy equipment preferred.   

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of SIS, DBS and DSI computer systems preferred.

  • Knowledge of parts and warehousing operations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of various types of systems and components (hydraulics, mechanical, pneumatic, power train, electronic, air and fuel systems, electric, etc.) on a large number of different kinds of equipment.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

  • Skills in strong organization, problem solving, decision making, follow-up and time management.

  • Skills in effective verbal, listening and written communication to consult with customers to understand their issues and recommend solutions.
