COMPENSATION

Hourly Rate: $17-$19

SUMMARY

Works on construction projects, usually in utility capacity, by transferring from one task to another where demands require workers with varied experience and the ability to work without close supervision by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The criteria for evaluation in this position include but are not limited to the following:


  • Occasionally performs general laboring duties, such as shoveling and raking stone, gravel, earth, and topsoil material.
  • Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery.
  • Occasionally directs and guides traffic through the construction job site using proper equipment and procedures.
  • Regularly erects, positions, and moves sign packages safely and accurately, adhering to state specifications. Move traffic control devices regularly, lifting 30 lbs and occasionally 100 lbs.

    • Performs miscellaneous responsibilities as requested by the Project Manager or Foreperson to ensure smooth operation and learn all construction operations areas.
    • Operates various pieces of equipment, including power broom, jackhammer, pumps, pipe saw, chain saw, vibratory roller, and hand compactor.
    • Performs daily preventative maintenance of equipment, including inspecting lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water on previously mentioned equipment.
    • May drive a pickup truck to transport materials to and from specified destinations safely and efficiently.
    • Ability to follow directions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • At all times, display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, inspectors, engineers, and the general public.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in company policy and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the job's essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
