Education Reporter

The Stamford Advocate is a member of Hearst Connecticut Media, the largest news organization in Connecticut. As the Education Reporter for The Advocate, you will join a 190-year-old tradition of journalistic excellence and play a vital role in chronicling a city like few others. In Stamford you will cover one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, with a large school population that ranges from impoverished to wealthy – the multitude of educational challenges facing the nation play out here daily.




·         Work closely with editors to cover breaking news for online and social media platforms and craft intelligent and in-depth enterprise stories for online and the print newspaper.

·         Cover a city school district with 21 public schools and a quarter-billion-dollar budget; plus high-end private and religious schools.

·         Work a beat that includes a political Board of Education, large school administration and engaged parent population to develop story ideas and make them reality.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in journalism, English or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience in producing high-quality breaking news and enterprise journalism across print and digital platforms.

  • Excellent writing and reporting skills, with a command of grammar, usage and AP style.
