This opportunity allows you to be the technical interface between our Global Services and Technical Sales organizations, Product Development and all other company departments for our ASM product line (Application Security).

You'll have comprehensive product knowledge and ability, expert network engineering and application delivery knowledge, including troubleshooting and design review. ENEs will spend about 80% of their time resolving escalations as well as other projects as required.

What will you do?


  • Provide exceptional technical support to investigate and resolve complex issues on F5 products (software and hardware) for the Field Services, Network Support, Consulting and Training organizations, both remote and occasionally on-site 


  • Take ownership of technical issues of any complexity with minimal need for supervision or assistance 


  • Assist Technical Sales Engineers by verifying network solutions and ensuring that appropriate products and services have been selected to satisfy client requirements 


  • Work with Product Development and Product Management to ensure products are developed in ways that meet customer requirements 


  • Validate and distribute issue-specific software solutions 


  • Be the interface with Product Development group on behalf of all Global Services 


  • Mentor F5 technical support engineers 


  • Be responsible for CERT and security release alerts to customer install base while working with product development 


  • Review, test and create content for F5’s technical knowledge base


  • Participate in on-going training with F5 products and related technologies 


 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Thorough understanding of web application security topics (e.g. signature based security and policy based security) including the OWASP Top 10 and mitigations 


  • Expert knowledge of web applications and concepts such as HTTP, MySQL, character encoding and interaction with languages such as HTML, JavaScript, PHP, Python/Perl, TCL, etc 


  • Expert knowledge and troubleshooting skills for HTTP based applications including use of tools such as Wireshark, HTTPWatch, BurpSuite or similar 


  • Good knowledge of Web2.0 technologies such as XML, SOAP, REST and Web Services Security 


  • Good working knowledge of SSL and troubleshooting SSL


  • Good knowledge of Unix environments especially Linux for configuration & troubleshooting


  • Working knowledge of the Web Browser environment (JavaScript interaction, HTML DOM etc)


  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate customers about complex technology in a simple way.


  • General Knowledge in malware methodology


  • General knowledge of web based offensive methods


  • Ability to diffuse complicated technical and political situations with enterprise customers


  • Ability to work in a highly-collaborative team environment 


  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, both oral and written, with the ability to articulate and educate customers about complex technology in a simple way.


  • Ability to diffuse complicated technical and political situations with enterprise customers.



  • Professional Security Certifications would be advantageous 


 

Qualifications


  • Minimum 8+ years industry-level networking experience.


  • Hold an Undergraduate Computer Science degree or equivalent work experience.


  • Expert technical knowledge of TCP/IP and UNIX, particularly BSD variants.


  • Demonstrated experience and expert-level knowledge with network devices (routers, switches, etc.), including such topics as HTTP headers, ISO layers, and TCP flags.


  • Intermediate-level knowledge of SSL (particularly server-based) and DNS admin experience.


  • Familiarity with F5 load balancing and security products like BigIP and FirePass preferred.


Physical Demands and Work Environment


  • Duties are performed in a standard office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone and read printed material.

  • Duties may require working outside standard operational hours periodically (evenings and weekends).

  • Role onboarding will include US based technical/product training

  • Up to 20% travel

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $107,180.00 - $160,770.00
