The Opportunity


  • Develops, documents, and publishes Release Management standards.
  • Manages change control processes for IT releases.
  • Communicates release readiness status including blockers to internal and cross-functional stakeholders proactively, preparing formal report-out communications, and presenting to people at all levels of the organization.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships within all of IT organizations and business teams.
  • Partners with teams performing Operations functions to develop and execute on a readiness plan that ensures delivery of training and knowledge transfers to designated subject matter experts within the support teams in advance of releases.
  • Develops the strategic roadmap and manage release readiness programs and manages related KPI capture and reporting.
  • Confirms Operations is ready to support new products, platform and solution releases.
  • Provides project and release management expertise for Enterprise Systems in Cloud and in-house applications.
  • Reviews, prioritizes, and tracks progress of new products or existing product release risks and issues that affect support operations and impact our ability to effectively provide support.
  • Understands technical risk and technical architecture of changes being released and serves as a change control board leader interacting with all levels of the enterprise to understand the impact of releases and leads discussions on assessing impact and approval of releases on all layers of the technology stack.
  • Plans, coordinates, and provides oversight of software releases, patches, and emergency change requests in close collaboration with ITS Teams.
  • Participates in product architecture reviews and proactively identify risk areas including areas where customers may react to changes to ensure we are considering and appropriately addressing key areas as part of the communications plan.
  • Liaise with Operations and Delivery teams to assess impacts of product/functionality changes, to existing customers and Support, and works with Cross Functional teams to address in advance of new release(s) where required.
  • Drives definition and evolution of release processes and automation to optimize efficiency and quality while meeting the demands of rapid growth and operational complexity.
  • Maintains the Release Calendar to manage key enterprise release transparency.
  • Provides schedule, task, testing and dependency management of key technology releases, critical cycles, and ITS production schedules, such as for bug fixes, payroll, benefits open enrollment, bonus and tax production, contract launches, and application enhancements and upgrades.
  • Defines and manages release readiness and success criteria and effectively communicates the importance of adhering to the Release Management process.
  • Develops, analyzes, and maintains tools that support and automate processes for software and data releases.
  • Mentors others on topics such as product components, component dependencies, product dependencies, automated tests, and release processes.
  • Continuously improves Enterprise Release process.
  • Proactively collaborate with senior management in all areas of IT and business to assess and identify needed Change Management process improvement opportunities.
  • Provides training, coaching and guidance of Change Management process to Information Technology team and business led application systems administrators.
  • Reviews requests for change (RFCs) to ensure appropriate rigor, discipline, consistency and predictability is applied across the entire organization with respect to how RFCs are submitted, reviewed, approved and executed to include Post Implementation Reviews (PIR).
  • Creates, analyzes, and reports on metrics to measure Change Management process adherence.
  • Plays a key role in defining requirements and participating in large scale/high visibility programs and projects, allowing services to effectively deliver scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Chairs the Change Control Board (CCB) meeting, produces the meeting agenda and distributes meeting minutes to stakeholders.
  • Participates in audits as the subject matter expert on Change Management, demonstrating adequacy and effectiveness of internal change controls.
  • Develops, documents, and publishes ITS Change Management standards.
  • Responsible for Change Management and tracking of Application Structure changes and their impact on Enterprise Systems.
  • Ensures maintenance of Configuration Management Database for critical enterprise systems.
  • Coordinates technical analyses that outline the impact of Changes to Enterprise Systems Structure and functionality. Contributes subject matter expertise to technical documentation knowledge base.
  • Develops Change Request tasks and timelines/schedules working with ITS enterprise teams and ensures documentation compliance in Change Management application.
  • Ensures solution documentation is submitted to knowledge base.
  • Ensures required information is available for use by problem management activities and others carrying out root cause investigations and ensuing change request actions.
  • Effectively communicates the importance of adhering to the Change Management process.
  • Continuously evaluates existing processes and procedures and makes recommendations to ensure Change and configuration management is executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Reviews changes pre and post approvals.
  • Identifies and communicates risks and leads discussions on development of risk mitigation tactics.
  • Evaluates the impact of planned organizational change.
  • Supports development of communications relevant to change initiatives.
  • Identifies and manages anticipated resistance to change.
  • Continuously improves Enterprise Change Management process.
  • Ensures compliance with Enterprise technical Change Management policy for all tiers of environment assets including software, applications, database and infrastructure.
  • Leads Operations projects as assigned.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science or Information Technology with a business application or database concentration required.
  • 5 - 7 years of release and change management experience and supporting tools required.
  • Experience with enterprise software in a technical role required.
  • Experience and understanding of technical architecture in Cloud, On-Prem and Hybrid implementations required.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or Master's in Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
  • Experience with project management and process execution preferred.
  • Leadership skills working with any level or role at Vituity.
  • Overall understanding of infrastructure and application architecture.
  • Experience and application of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework.
  • Excellent understanding of change management principles, techniques & tools.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and release process.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
