Job Description:


OVERVIEW

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for providing functional leadership, technical expertise, & ensuring compliance for environmental health, safety, & security across the company. This includes, for example, establishing facility safety and emergency response standards, KPI's, & audits, contractual and regulatory compliance, improvement program development & implementation oversight, report generation and submittal, management of air, land, and water emissions, waste reduction and disposal. Partner with functional and executive leadership to establish a vision for health and safety and on related budgets and execution.

S/he must have the willingness to dive deep into the details while keeping an eye on the bigger picture. A demonstrated ability to influence people and successful experiences working in a fast-paced, multi-functional, matrixed, and international team are required. This is a hands-on position and the person in this position possesses a passion for developing relationships and collaboration, effectively communicating with every level of the organization from Senior Executive Leadership to entry-level associates, partnering with local leadership and corporate teams, as well as outside service providers and stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Responsible for the day to day Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security

  • Develop and maintains policies & procedures in conjunction with Operations leadership team

  • Recommend facility, equipment, and process security and safety protocol that will reduce employees' exposure to work hazards

  • Develop and execute an audit and preparedness program for each facility that covers personnel / pedestrian, facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and ensure safety regulatory compliance

  • Work with Human Resources to capture data and metrics (OSHA, TRIR, near misses, first aid case rate, others) and define improvement plans

  • Reviews employee safety programs to determine their adequacy and implements safety training programs (e.g. lockout/tagout, hazardous material containment, blood borne pathogens, ergonomics, etc.)

  • Establish emergency response teams (ERT) at each location, along with training and equipment

  • Lead incident investigations including documentation of root cause, preventive, and corrective actions

  • Provide weekly management reports and lead Safety reviews as part of monthly operations reviews

  • Review plans and specifications for construction or purchase of new machinery or equipment to determine whether all safety requirements have been met

  • Prepare, manage and comply within budget

  • Coordinate and administer contracts in assigned areas of responsibility

  • Execute annual objectives and establish or modify operating policies as needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, environmental or a related technical discipline (or equivalent education & experience)

  • At least 5 years related EH&S experience and/or training

  • Must understand OSHA's Process Safety Management

  • Excellent knowledge of building systems and codes as well as manufacturing & warehousing equipment

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders

  • Proven experience supporting growth through transparency, consistency, and disciplined execution

LOCATION

  • Open to US Manufacturing locations

TRAVEL

  • Frequent - up to 50%. Travel to and between the company's manufacturing / warehousing and sales locations will be required

Can walk extensively and maneuver throughout the facilities. The need to occasionally climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs. Have the flexibility to bend, stoop, squat and kneel repetitively. There is also an occasional need to lift (typically less than 25 lbs). as well as frequently touch and feel. The ability to hear and see with vision abilities in close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus is necessary.

Physical demands in regard to travel may include the need to walk at a fast pace, standing and/or siting for long periods.

When in the production / warehouse areas, the Associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however there may be areas designated as Hearing Protection required and provided earplugs are mandatory in those areas.

There may be areas of the plant and warehouse areas where exposure to heat and/or cold can occur. The Associate may be exposed to dust and floating particles used in the manufacturing, storage and inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
