We have become a local, national, and international resource for adoptive, kinship and foster families and the professionals who support them. C.A.S.E. set out in 2021 on a new strategic direction to grow our clinical and training programs into a National Demonstration & Teaching Clinic and Knowledge Center. It is an exciting time as we grow our evidenced-based adoption competent clinical model and our accredited, award-winning training programs nationwide.
C.A.S.E has an annual budget of 12.8 million and a staff of 60+ employees.
About the Position:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Chief Development Officer to lead our fundraising and development efforts. The Chief Development Officer will play a key role in driving revenue growth, building relationships with donors and partners, and advancing our mission of supporting families, children, and communities through adoption, education, foster care, and mental health initiatives.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Development Officer provides the vision and leadership to lead efforts to support the organization's growth and expansion both locally and nationally. The Chief Development officer scope of responsibilities encompass all aspects of fundraising and development operations, including but not limited to corporate and foundation giving, individual and major donor giving, planned to give, event planning and implementation, constituent relationship management, donor cultivation, board development, and strategic partnership. Serves as member of the senior management team working collaboratively with the CEO and other leaders to develop and implement strategic plan and vision.
This is a full-time, exempt hybrid position. On-site two (2) days per week, Burtonsville, MD, office.
Note: May require evening hours. Must occasionally attend specific agency functions in the evening and/or on weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
FUNDRAISING

Collaborates with the senior management team to align fundraising goals with organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.
Manages expense budgets for all fundraising efforts.
Implements, coordinates, and manages all fundraising activities including corporate and foundation giving, individual donor giving, direct mail, annual giving, capital campaigns and endowments, special events, and other solicitations.
Cultivates, stewards, and manages individual donor relations maintaining an active portfolio of qualified donors and prospects.
Develops and implements major gifts and planned giving programs.
Monitors and analyzes fundraising data to track progress, identify opportunities for growth, and make strategic decisions.
Conducts research on individual, corporate, foundation and individual prospects.
Provides leadership for donor cultivation, including the scheduling of meetings and preparation of correspondence and proposals. Coordinates the production of a range of donor solicitation materials.
Manages donor acknowledgement letters and appreciation activities.
Attends meetings with prospective donors in conjunction with CEO, and Board of Directors.
Develops fundraising materials including direct mail, electronic and print donor focused communications.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Works with the Development Committee of The Board of Directors and CEO to develop strategies that engage Directors in meeting the organizations fundraising.
Participates in quarterly Board of Directors meetings preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as requested by the CEO and Board.
Participates in Board Finance Committee meetings as requested.
Develops materials for fundraising outreach activities for Board members.
Trains Board members in donor cultivation and stewardship

DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT

Manages the day-to-day operations of development function, monitors adequacy of activities through coordination with staff, committees and Board of Directors.
Lead and manages development team to enhance productivity and performance.
Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, maintains accountability standards to donors and ensures compliance with the code of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct of fundraising executives.
Knowledge and understanding of fundraising and donor databases.
Prepares fund/development annual budget and program analysis.
Supervises the administration tracking systems to support all development projects, operations and reports.
Manages pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs.
Prepares Annual Report

PROMOTES THE ORGANIZATON

Fosters a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
Works closely with Marketing and Communications to develops a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization.
Coordinates with the Director of Marketing the design, printing and distributions of marketing and communications materials for development efforts.
Builds relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops, interprets, and administrates policies, procedures and practices related to the directorship of Development and communicates to appropriate audience as needed.
Attends, leads and constructively contributes to a variety and internal and external meetings such as: management meetings, staff meetings, etc.
Keeps abreast of and maintains expertise on issues related to fundraising and development in the non-profit arena.
Performs other related duties as may be required.
