The Role

This Sr Information Security Engineer position operates in supportive role implementing security, technology and innovation in the Security Service Delivery environment. Security Service Delivery plays a pivotal role in the Global Security organization responsible for design, implementation, activation and Tier 3 support of customer service orders. This role performs customer service implementation/activations, advanced troubleshooting of customer issues and Tier 3 support of complex customer solutions. Facilitates the ingress, implementation and egress of advanced client trouble, install and change requests for managed premise, cloud and next generation firewall products.


The Senior Information Security Engineer is expected to perform as shift lead, including basic managerial duties, escalation support and on-call. Provides mentoring, training and escalation support to front line SOC and implementation personnel.


The Main Responsibilities

  • Perform complex installations and changes within the managed security environment of CenturyLink, for both internal and external customers.

  • Provide Tier 3 guidance and recommendations on customer fault, service outage and impairment events.

  • Research and implement customer generated change requests for Managed Security products.

  • Performs tasks associated with the installation, turn up and maintenance of CenturyLink security infrastructure.

  • Identify areas of risk in the corporate and carrier infrastructure for assessment.

  • Present as technical expert delivering solutions to clients, internal business and third-party vendors.

  • Develop enhancements to existing solutions, promote creation of new tools, processes and applications.

  • Act as subject matter expert with network architects, engineers and other internal business units for new feature development and support of customer issues.

  • Recommend new security policies, security systems, controls, best practices and standards to mitigate emerging threats across the company.

  • Possess exceptional customer service skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Communicate effectively with managers, customers and vendors; ensuring reports and findings are delivered in a timely and appropriate manner to management, operations and executive leadership.

  • Maintain working relationships, including collaborative technical activities with peers and coordination of activities across multiple departments/business units.

  • Directly support, train and mentor Tier I and II colleagues.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required: Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 2 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • 5-7 years in a Security Operations or Implementation environment

  • Certifications in specific security technologies such as Fortinet, Arbor, Radware, Palo Alto, Cisco or Checkpoint.

  • Security industry certifications (examples):

    • CISSP

    • CRISC

    • CISM

    • Security+

    • CCNA

    • ACIA

    • CCNA

    • CEH

    • ITIL Foundations
