Job Description:

The Director, Procurement - Global Portfolio Lead – Cans & Valves role is accountable for the overall management within Global Procurement for Aerosol Cans & Valves. The category spend is approximately USD 350MM with a high level of technical and supply complexity.

In this role, you’ll develop and manage a global Procurement strategy to deliver on cost & cash improvements, innovation, risk management, sustainability and other value-added elements of supplier relationships. Lead supply contingency plans, an understanding of alternate supply sources and a balanced risk approach in business award decisions. 

You’ll develop and lead strategic alliances with a select group of suppliers to assure supply continuity and responsiveness in supply of required materials, as well as achieve a preferred status in the presentation of new technologies and opportunities, while creating an advantaged cost position for SCJ.

You’ll lead a team of 4 employees in multiple geographies, driving performance at global and regional levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Owns and leads the Global Strategy for Aerosol Cans & Valves.  Develop and execute Global strategy through:

    • Baseline establishment

    • Development of key levers and strategies for the Globe & taking into consideration Regional needs

    • Cost modelling

    • RFI/ RFP processes

    • Negotiations

    • Global Supplier sourcing and New Product (Innovation) support

    • Supplier evaluation and selection

    • Contract negotiation/execution



  • Develops and leads the aerosol sourcing strategy to ensure supply resiliency and complexity reduction

  • Engages with key business stakeholders to achieve alignment on long-term strategies to deliver business growth through innovation and margin optimization.

  • Manages supplier relationships to drive Product Innovation, Sustainability, Speed to Market, Supply Assurance and other business objectives.

  • Delivers committed Cost Savings, Working Capital Improvement, Sustainability and other value creation goals for the Global spend.

  • Develops Should Cost Models, Clean Sheet, TCO, Supply and Demand Analysis to drive Global strategy, supplier selections and DP margin improvement.  

  • Identifies sustainability trends, partnering with stakeholders to commercialize.

  • Maintains up to date knowledge of global/regional supply markets, commodity trends including Global and Regional influences and communicate forecasts and market dynamics to key stakeholders as part of budget process.

  • Leads special projects in support of long-term business plans; e.g., commodity harmonization or standardization programs, spec optimization, complexity reduction, new product launches etc.

  • Develops internal team to drive results in all of the Strategic Levers (such as cost & cash, sustainability, innovation).

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business or related degree or military experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement

  • 10+ years of overall experience within Supply Chain, Finance and/or Procurement

  • 5+ years of most recent experience in the CPG industry

  • 5+ years of experience in Procurement Leadership role

  • 3+  years of People Management experience

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:


  • MBA or Masters Degree Preferred

  • Global People Management experience

  • Purchasing or Supply Chain certifications

  • Business experience in Manufacturing, Engineering and/or RD&E in a supplier facing role

  • Strong Financial Acumen and Influencing Skills

  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally and interface with multiple levels of both internal and external organizations

  • Knowledgeable in current and future policies, trends, tech and information impacting the business and organization; knows how the business and competition works.

  • Project Management – Ability to develop and drive an agenda of sustainable changes to the organization.

  • Constructs and executes compelling people/career development plans
