Job Description - Controller
Boca Raton based alternative health care retailer is seeking an in-office CPA for multi-state corporate accounting activities.
Qualified candidates must have:
· Full proficiency with QuickBooks, and general ledger accounting software. Not afraid to do journal entries
· Proficiency with a variety of accounting concepts, practices and procedures, debt covenants
· Strong analytical and organizational skills
· Working knowledge of PC applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
· An ability to liaise with outside, industry-specific accounting firms and report back to the Board

Responsibilities of the Position

Monitor bookkeeping activities
Perform balance sheet accounts analysis and reconciliations, including but not limited to bank statements, fixed and intangible assets, payroll, accruals and prepaid expenses
Process payroll information with minimal errors, and issue compensation payments to employees by scheduled pay dates.
Analyze and prepare daily, monthly, and quarterly journal entries
Assist with year-end financial, bank and tax audits
Resolve Accounts Payable related inquiries, discrepancies and irregularities
Review bank activity
Complete daily cash reconciliation
Reconcile corporate credit cards
Maintain a comprehensive system of controls over all accounting functions.
Liaising with accountants outside the organization

Please note that you will not be responsible for preparing tax returns.
Personal Attributes
· Bachelor's degree - preferably in Business or Accounting, Masters degree preferred
· CPA certification or CPA candidate
· 8+ years of relevant accounting experience
· Reside within 30 minutes of Company's corporate offices in Boca Raton. (ONLY THOSE APPLICANTS WHO CURRENTLY RESIDE IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA AREA WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. APPLICANTS WHO CURRENTLY DON'T RESIDE IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA AREA WHO HAVE PLANS TO RELOCATE WILL NOT BE RECONSIDERED.)

Compensation
A competitive compensation program will be tailored to the selected candidate. Base salary will be supplemented by a performance bonus with opportunities to enroll in health, vision and dental insurance.
