BUTCHER BLOCK CLERK

SUMMARY
Employee must be at least 18 years old. Assists in taking care of and servicing fish and lunchmeat cases and clean-up in the department. Supports staff to achieve maximum sales and profits for the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  1. Works the service case, which includes seafood and butcher block, by working back stock and ordered product that is brought in.
  2. Assists in filling lunch meat case, same as above.
  3. Helps control shrink by rotating product and reacting when there are close dates.
  4. Keeps shelves clean in sections.
  5. Wraps product, operates scale, and prices product accordingly.
  6. Keeps damaged and out-of-date products off sales floor at all times.
  7. Meets company productivity standards for department.
  8. Breaks down, cleans, and sanitizes equipment and cutting room.
  9. Keeps back-stock organized and backroom clean.
  10. Ensures that all ad items and in-store specials are full at all times.
  11. Faces department on a daily and as-needed basis.
  12. Ensures that the customer service 10' rule policy is enforced throughout the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than a high school education, or up to one month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds.

WORKENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a cooler type of environment while working in the cutting room which temperatures will be between 38 to 46 degrees.
