Job Description:
Purpose and Scope:

This position supports operational excellence in the machining processes to drive productivity, quality and continuous improvement. We expect this individual to be a leader who collaborates with the Sargent team to exceed organizational goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Model Safe behaviors at all times.
  • Follow company quality control standards to include in process inspection and documentation.
  • Knowledge of safety standards for equipment being run.
  • Must be able to make decisions, communicate effectively across departments, train and works well with others in a team environment.
  • Design and make fixturing for first run parts that will go to the production floor.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot non-conforming parts as they occur
  • Produce and inspect parts with the ability to offer continuous improvement opportunities
  • Setup and run CNC & manual mills, CNC & manual lathes, surface grinder and other shop machines as needed.
  • Deburr own parts as required.
  • Provide direction and assist others with machining practices and issues

Required Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-8 years’ experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Application of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics (algebra, geometry and trigonometry).
  • Advanced measurement skills including GD&T, CMM and optical comparator.
  • Knowledge of tooling capabilities (speeds/feeds and insert grades)
  • Must be proficient in G and M codes and editing CNC programs to set up and run complex parts with the understanding of CAD/CAM.
  • Ability to read, interpret technical drawings, routers, work instructions and specifications.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and multi-tasking abilities
  • Ability and willingness to train Level I and II machinists.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position.

Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Lathe and/or Mill experience preferred
  • College Course work preferred
  • Master Cam preferred
  • Ability to setup and run EDM is a plus.
