Nemours is hiring for a Physical Therapist, Full time to work 30 hrs/week in a regular permanent schedule.
Provides physical therapy patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures. Actively participates in departmental education activities in order to expand knowledge of patient populations and evidence-based practice.
Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee’s supervisor.
Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all ages: pediatrics, adolescents, and adults; Able to provide physical therapy services to a variety of patient types with recognition of his/her own limitations while seeking appropriate mentorship as needed.
Completes timely documentation as required by departmental policy #7980.3.3, Joint Commission, and CARF standards.
Attends meetings related to patient treatment and contributes to discussion as an interdisciplinary team member.
Consults with other services, families, and outside agencies to recommend durable medical equipment, home/school modifications and transitional therapy program prior to discharge from therapy.
Maintains knowledge of and familiarity with insurance referral/authorization process and documentation requirements related to therapy services.
Completes all mandatory training which may include, but not limited to safety, infection control, corporate compliance, HIPAA, bioterrorism, CPR and program specific respiratory training.
Participates in triage and coverage planning as necessary to meet patient care and departmental needs. When required by assignment, participates in weekend/holiday inpatient coverage rotation, including checking the code blue cart per guideline #7980.GL.24.
Team Work: Participates in conflict identification and resolution.
Works cooperatively on multidisciplinary, single discipline, program specific and specialty teams.
Assists in maintenance of department space and equipment. Professional Development: Level I and II: Independently seeks to expand clinical knowledge and evidenced based practice through literature reviews, inservices, courses and mentorships. Level III and IV: Reviews new clinical tools, reviews discipline specific competencies and provides input on new treatment intervention strategies to ensure evidenced-based and current practices.
Generates and disseminates clinical evidence based knowledge within specialty area on a national and regional level.
Prepare and submit abstracts for poster, platform and leads programming for national and regional conferences related to specialty area.
Serve on professional association committees.
Leads and attends physical therapy meetings as scheduled.
Eligible for advancement thru career ladder process.
Assesses existing and develops new activities that promote general knowledge and professionalism within the department; participates in peer review process.
Attends inservices/continuing education, provides updates in the form of inservices to associates.
Participates in program Continuous Improvement projects.
Actively contributes to daily management system.
Level III and IV: Takes lead in the continuous improvement process. Contributes to discipline and program committees to enhance patient care; assists in assessing current procedures and assists in developing methods of improvement related to patient care. Program Development: Stays current on technological aspects of position and develops ties with professional organizations. Participates in activities to increase program use, awareness and marketing
Level III and IV: Assists in developing strategic goals for specialty, discipline and/or program, in collaboration with manager/director. Takes leadership role in coordinating interactions between specialty programs and coordinates and evaluates specialty teams. As requested, requisitions specialty material, coordinates budget suggestions for program needs and therapeutic equipment. Contributes to program web pages and is a community liaison for projects. Takes leadership role in designing and implementing activities to increase program use, awareness and marketability. Assists in mentoring affiliating physical therapy students, department clinical staff, support personnel, and volunteers. Adequately and appropriately provides PTA supervision.
When applicable, Level I and Level II provides inservice training and follows specific protocols/pathways for direct patient care issues as mandated by hospital program. Level III and IV: Works with staff to review and revise protocols/pathways.
Clinical Education: Level I: Participates in PT/PTA supervision programs after 1 year of experience and in accordance with professional standards. Level II: Obtains APTA Credentialed Clinical Instructor Certification and serves as full-time clinical instructor. Provide inservices and lead journal clubs as appropriate. Level III: Obtains APTA Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor Certification, teaches classes within the hospital and community related to specialty area. Level IV: Teaches in university based academic program and presents at national level conferences. Develops content and programming for training of future physical therapists and physical therapist assistants. Provides mentorship and training to new clinical instructors. Supervises and assists with student program as needed. Supervise and provide mentorship to staff who will serve as new lecturers/presenters.

Good communications skills are required, both written and verbal.
DPT is entry level; must be eligible for DE licensure
Delaware/New Jersey/Pennsylvania State PT License (permanent or temporary; as appropriate for location(s)) to practice Physical Therapy. All staff must maintain active DE licensure regardless of assignment, program or location.
BLS certification Basic Life Support (within 6 months of date of hire) and must be maintained for duration of employment.
Member of professional specialty organizations (APTA, State PT Assoc.) preferred.
Clinical affiliation and/or work experience in pediatrics is preferred. Experience with physically and/or mentally challenged populations preferred
