Certification Engineer | New Graduate

Irvine, Ca OR Orlando, FL (Onsite)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Certification Engineer - New Graduate to be a member of certification engineers and ODA Unit Members in the certification of in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems, aircraft communication systems, and supporting systems.  Supports the delivery/development/improvement of a product, system or process from an aircraft certification perspective. Applies company policies and procedures with minimum guidance from the manager may be asked to coordinate teams and projects.

In this position you will also be accountable for one or more certification projects.  In addition, the Certification Engineer is responsible to verify "showing of compliance" of the design to the Project certification basis and/or responsible for the design assurance of Thales equipment in support of airframe manufacturer type certificate.

Key Areas of Responsibility


  • Supports TC/STC project and coordinates with applicable approvers (ODA/Boeing/Airbus), prepares FAA STC project specific certification plans and data necessary to show compliance in support of TC/STC projects, support seat supplier TSO showing of compliance in accordance with FAA AC 21-49 and SAE ARP 6448.

  • Devises test plans and associated reports oversees testing acceptance.

  • Prepares and coordinates with ODA UM for approval of tests plans/reports.

  • Make major/minor determinations per FAA guidance.

  • Participates in the certification audits/inquiries and verifies the responses given to the actions before transmission to the customer/authorities.

  • Ensures that certification risks are immediately reported to management.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in engineering.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Strong written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Must have strong analytical skills and be able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings of various aircraft modifications and identify design changes required to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained.

  • Ability to use situational leadership skills to work collaboratively and influence key stakeholders.

  • Ability to determine root cause and identify corrective action in support of audit findings.

Special Position Requirements



  • Schedule: Core Business Hours Monday-Friday.


  • Travel: Travel no more than 10%, worldwide in support of Thales Certification Projects.

What We Offer

The anticipated TTC range for this role is $92,771.00 - $132,530.00 USD Annual. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
