As our Area Safety Manager, your focus will be to manage safety programs for multiple Animal Feed plants that align with corporate EHS standards, ensures regulatory compliance with OSHA and company requirements and reduces EHS risk.  Your focus would be on developing, coaching and training plant personnel and Plant Safety Supervisors on Health and Safety programs and facilitating Health and Safety initiatives.

You must ensure our Feed safety programs are in compliance with existing and new regulations and Land O’ Lakes comprehensive EHS standards management system and help plants implement critical safety risk reduction programs. 

Other responsibilities include: developing, aligning, and implementing proactive programs that reduce LOLs risk profile.  You will also assist in managing Feed Safety capital program, coordinate and conduct safety audits, risk assessments and defines control measures to reduce risks.  Enhancing employee engagement is key through inclusive safety committees and effective safety observations. 

If there is an accident, you will participate in accident and Incident investigation to ensure that the root cause and management system failures are defined so adequate corrective actions can be implemented to eliminate a recurrence.  Additionally, you will work closely with Corporate EHS on implementing key H & S programs and corporate initiatives.  Assists and tracks new plant manager and safety supervisor training and individual development plans.

Experience-Education (Required):

-Seeking an individual with 3+ years’ experience in the safety field and a 4-year degree in Safety Management or a related technical discipline such as Engineering, Industrial Safety, Chemistry, or Environmental. 

-Strong technical OSHA/Safety/Industrial Hygiene/property protection and worker compensation background.

-History of producing results with progressive responsibility managing programs and people

Competencies-Skills (Required):

-Regulatory Compliance, including Federal (OSHA) and local regulations

-Demonstrated ability to interact with multiple levels of the facility and with outside agencies and customers.

-Ability to drive cultural change and accountability.

-Effective communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).

-Coaching for high performance and engagement skills.

-Knowledge and experience with a behavior based safety programs. 

-Strong knowledge of safety, EHS Management Systems, Injury Prevention, OSHA's grain handling standards, dust explosion risk, and OSHA general industry requirements.

Experience-Education (Preferred):

-Master's degree in Occupational Safety and/or Industrial Hygiene is preferred

-Certified Safety Professional, Registered Professional Engineer

Candidates living in the Harrisburg, PA or Columbus, OH area is highly desirable

Travel:  May require up to 50% travel (National Level)
