Edge Autonomy, an international Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) / Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) aerospace manufacturing company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Flight Systems to lead our flight systems engineering team. RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
Operational Planning and Strategy:
Develop and implement operational plans, strategies, and procedures to optimize the company's overall performance and achieve organizational goals.
Collaborate with senior management to align operational objectives with the company's strategic goals.
Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes, workflows, and systems to drive efficiency and productivity.
Resource Management:
Effectively manage and allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Monitor resource utilization and make recommendations for improvements to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure proper resource allocation and utilization across the organization.
Quality Assurance:
Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure that products and services meet or exceed customer expectations.
Implement quality assurance processes with direction and support from Corporate Quality Director and procedures to monitor and evaluate operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues.
Supply Chain Management:
Oversee the procurement and inventory management processes to ensure the availability of materials and supplies to support production.
Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and maintain strong relationships.
Continuously evaluate and optimize the supply chain to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize lead times.
Team Leadership and Development:
Provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Set performance goals, conduct regular performance evaluations, and provide feedback and coaching to drive employee development and engagement.
Identify training and development needs within the operations team and coordinate appropriate training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:
Bachelors degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field
Proven experience as an Operations Manager or in a similar operational leadership role.
Strong knowledge and understanding of operational processes, supply chain management, and quality control principles.
Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proven ability to develop and implement operational strategies that drive efficiency, productivity, and quality.
Proficiency in using operational management software and tools.
Familiarity with FCL, USG, CFRs, DCAA, DCMA, and DOD compliance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree
Experience in the aerospace industry or unmanned systems
Experience with the integration of flight systems with UAS/UAV platforms and payloads is a plus.
Publications, patents, or contributions to the field of UAS/UAV flight systems are highly regarded.
