Job Description:

Position Summary:

Develops and improves manufacturing processes by optimizing product and manufacturing methods. Responsible for the continuous improvement of product quality through lean manufacturing concepts and activities.

How You Will Do It:


  • Evaluates and optimizes manufacturing processes by studying current and proposed methods; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Develops manufacturing processes to meet product requirements while optimizing labor and material inputs.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Researches and makes recommendations for equipment purchases to support manufacturing operations.
  • Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians. Prepare and maintain manufacturing work instructions in accordance with company's standards.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Maintains product and process data metrics by creating spreadsheets, charts, and other presentation materials.
  • Provides manufacturing engineering information to support management decision making and address customer audits.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by promoting compliance with government and customer regulations.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. Maintain and enhance knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Identify cost-savings and quality improvement projects in assigned area(s) and move them from concept to implementation. Design new Lean Manufacturing concepts or evaluate, improve, and implement existing concepts and best-in-class manufacturing techniques.
  • Contributes to efficiency improvements by leading and/or participating in team projects to meet desired goals. Ensure solutions achieve required quality levels, reliability, and consistency.
  • Incorporate engineering specifications into design, process, or techniques and provide feedback to capture lessons learned.

What We Look For:


  • Bachelor's in industrial, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Years of experience 5 years or more.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including assembly and testing.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Vacuum and clean-room experience highly desirable
  • Experience within a highly technical production environment is highly desirable.
  • Quality training and experience in SPC, Kanban, Kaizen, ISO-9000, Lean, Six-Sigma highly desirable
  • Experience with Solidworks CAD drawing preferred.
  • Project Management Professional certification a plus.
  • Able to effectively communicate, written and orally, with employees and technical professionals/consultants.
  • Adept in the use of computers, software applications and other technology tools used for the purpose of information gathering, designing, product testing, computation, communication, and product documentation.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and demonstrate hands on ability.
  • Practical mindset with strong ability to read and interpret highly technical documents (e.g., schematics, mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, bills of material, routings, operating, maintenance, and job safety instructions/procedures) provided in verbal, written or pictorial form.
  • Due to ITAR Restrictions an export license may be required.

Compensation

Salary Minimum: $70,000

Salary Maximum: $120,000
