We are currently seeking a well-qualified candidate for the position of Simulation/Power Design Engineer as a remote position, located in the Eastern or Central US time zones. As a Simulation/Power Design Engineer, this position plans and performs engineering assignments associated with the design and manufacture of power busbars and cable assemblies. The role requires an ability to establish design criteria and participate in design reviews after performing power simulation and analysis. The Design/Project Engineer provides analytical design support as well as helps in the development of process detail and quality plans for Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Work with customers, sales, and field application engineers to establish product requirements Provide technical support for the development phase of new design projects Provide technical support for prototype projects Perform simulations as specified by the customer Analyze the simulation inputs and the results with a goal to optimize dimensions of the solution to maintain performance at a desired temperature Offer design criteria/changes to the solution based on the analysis of the simulation(s) Interact with the global manufacturing engineering teams to determine methods and tooling required for new projects. Support manufacturing with the implementation of these methods and the use of required tooling. Develop qualification test requirements for power busbar and cable assembly products Understand and follow applicable Company practices, policies and procedures QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS BS Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Minimum 5yr of related experience Working knowledge and application of principles and techniques commonly employed in the design and manufacture of power busbars and/or cable solutions Experience with analytical/modeling/simulation Multiphysics software such as/similar to COMSOL Experience with modeling tools (CAD, Pro E, or Solidworks) Good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning Tolerancing per ANSI standards is a plus Results-driven mindset Ability to effectively communicate across the various functions of the business and with customers Familiarity with agency certification requirements Proficient in MS Office Suite Travel may be required, both domestic and international Amphenol offers a competitive salary and benefits.
