Job Description:

Primary Function: 


As a member of our structural engineering team, you will work on a broad range of projects and help grow our Oviedo-based structural design team. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects including bridges (new, widenings, repair/rehabilitation), culverts, wildlife crossings, retaining walls, weirs, toll gantries, and signal/sign/lighting structures.  Under general supervision, you will perform assignments of limited scope which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks. Assignments involve some unusual or difficult problems requiring job knowledge and abilities beyond entry level.

Primary Duties: 



  • Prepare plan details & outlines, identify quantities of materials & cost estimates, and perform calculations for a specific segment of a project.

  • Assist in preparation of technical plans and specifications.

  • Evaluate vendor drawings to assure compliance with specifications.

  • Review and comment on design drawings within defined limits.

  • Prepare technical reports or sections of larger reports.

  • From time to time, perform field visits, tests & measurements, and collect field data.

  • Aid and support proposal team or proposal manager.


Education and Experience Requirements: 



  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering from an ABET accredited university.  Electives in the area of structural analysis and design are preferred.  Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering is a plus.

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification

  • Familiarity with applicable design standards and specifications (through applicable university coursework) including ACI 318, AISC Steel Construction Manual, and Florida Building Code.  Familiarity with the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications is a plus.

  • Experience with developing basic design calculations utilizing general software such as Microsoft Excel and PTC Mathcad.  Experience with specialized structural analysis and design software is a plus.

  • Experience with CADD software.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills required.
