Position Summary: | The Mechanical Engineering (ME) Lab Manager manages the daily and long-term operations of the department’s machine shop and other supporting labs including the ME Makerspace and the Computer-Aided-Manufacturing (CAM) lab. They provide technical support and guidance with teaching and research in these spaces by creating and enforcing workflows and safety and establishing protocol and space and equipment usage guidelines. The Lab Manager directly supervises student workers in the managed spaces. The Lab Manager’s oversight includes support and training to undergraduate and graduate students and support to faculty with academic and research projects, maintaining and updating equipment in the managed space, fabricating parts using equipment, maintaining, and updating equipment and apparatuses, maintaining inventory, and providing additional assistance to constituents as needed. The incumbent assists with student-design projects. Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian order.
