The Cloud Infrastructure Service team (CIS) is a cloud service provider for virtual and physical infrastructure to government, educational, and other non-profit entities. We also provide managed services for our clients owned virtual environments.

Responsibilities

Serves as a Virtualization Specialist for NWRDC. Installs, configures, maintains, and tunes virtual environments.


Manages virtual infrastructure. Installs, maintains, monitors and tunes large enterprise scale virtual deployments including physical hardware, platform specific management tools, hypervisor, and hypervisor management tools.


Provides consultation and technical advice to customer end-users and other NWRDC staff. Anticipates, mitigates, identifies, troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software problems on Cloud Infrastructure hardware and enterprise virtualization environments. Analyzes system, server, application, network and input/output device performance. Performs and tests routine system backups and restores.


Deploy physical and virtual servers. Ensure integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, databases and during data transfer. Manage end-user accounts, permissions, access rights and storage allocations.


Recommend, schedule and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations and/or purchases. Practice asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.


Participates in an after-hours support and/or team on-call rotation in support of a CIS services within a 24x7 data center.


Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC's policy. Professional development and training is defined as learning undertaken by the employee to maintain and advance their skills, knowledge and competencies, specifically as they relate and add value to the job and workplace.


NWRDC provides support for a wide range of state and local government, as well K-20 organizations across the State of Florida. These organizations are dependent on NWRDC in order to accomplish their missions. This requires NWRDC to maintain services 24x7, even during times of crisis or emergency. As such, all NWRDC staff are considered essential staff for operations of the State of Florida.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)


Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.


Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical staff or clients.


Experience with VMware virtualization products.


Knowledge of enterprise storage concepts.


Knowledge of enterprise network concepts.


Knowledge and experience with hypervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of and/or experience with Cisco UCS.


Knowledge of and/or experience with VMware ESXi / vCenter.


Knowledge of and/or experience with Powershell, JSON, and/or YAML.


Experience with enterprise server platforms.


Experience with enterprise storage concepts.


Experience with enterprise network concepts.

Helpful

The ideal candidate for this position has a desire to learn, a need to provide the best service to the customer, and the patience to work within the processes. The typical day's activities range from resizing a virtual machine to working on a virtual environment refresh for an entire datacenter. The expectation is a lot of environment familiarization and on the job training for processes in the first 90 days.
