Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY
The PLC & Robotics Programmer will install, troubleshoot and maintain robotic and automation systems and components throughout the mill to ensure optimal working order.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Utilize industrial software to program, maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing process devices and systems.

  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical components

  • Maintain materials handling control systems, including PLC/PC controllers and industrial networks such as Ethernet-IP, motor control systems, servo drives, frequency drives, and electrical distribution systems

  • Provide technical support for PLC devices

  • Participate in the controls design and implementation process for capital and maintenance projects.

  • Streamline and add features to existing HMI’s to increase operator efficiency and ease of troubleshooting.

  • Utilize root cause analysis to determine downtime reasons and implement preventative measures to eliminate repeated events.

  • Continually work on preventative and development of predictive maintenance.

  • Troubleshoot complex control system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.

  • Partner with network support resources for guidance and assistance

  • Work with, assist, and train electricians in controls, automation, networks, etc. Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSA’s

  • Other duties as needed.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associates degree in electronics, robotics or programming disciplines or relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial electrical control systems and devices.

  • Ability to read, design and draw electrical controls schematics and program PLC Ladder Logic or other  programming languages. 

  • Experience with HMI, motor controls, VFD’s, Servo Drives, control networks, Ethernet/IP and general networking.

  • Ability to read and interpret pneumatic and hydraulic systems schematics and troubleshoot associated systems.

  • Experience with FANUC and ABB robotic handling systems and programming preferred.

  • Skilled in organizing and expressing ideas effectively in oral and written communication.

  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.

  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Valid Driver’s License is required for business travel.

  • Must be able to work various shifts, days, and overtime as needed.

  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check. 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement. Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs.  Ability to work at varying heights.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
