JOB DESCRIPTION



Wood is currently searching for a Senior Fire Protection / Process Safety Engineer to participate on projects conducted at the Wood Houston - Park Ten campus. Project scope may vary, but will primarily focus on providing input, analysis and oversight pertaining to Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), Risk Management, and Fire Protection studies. Projects include both onshore and offshore facilities. Candidates should possess the following skills and attributes:

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform or manage technical safety work with minimal guidance and direction. Complete project tasks with minimal guidance and direction. May be expected to serve as the Technical Safety Lead on mid-sized projects.
  • Conduct, participate in, and review qualitative and quantitative assessments on a wide assortment of projects, resulting in individual evaluations of potential consequences associated with a variety of project hazards.
  • Experience in coordinating desktop assessments incorporating consequence modeling related to: fire and explosion risk assessments, facility siting studies, dispersion and thermal radiation modeling, and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA).
  • Comprehensive understanding of system concepts and software modeling related to specialty fire protection systems design, including software related to fire & gas detection mapping and fire water systems hydraulic analysis.
  • Detailed knowledge of fire protection codes and standards related to Oil and Gas / Process and Chemical facilities. Able to produce / review philosophies, specifications, reports and drawings related to fire protection and safety systems and equipment.
  • Capable of innovative problem solving skills, including optimization and processing of software inputs and outputs using programming or other specialized approaches.
  • Able to produce, check and correct technical reports and calculations related to the applicable required job-skills.
  • Initiate and participate in regular communication between the technical safety team and other engineering disciplines to ensure a high degree of interface between the work conducted and the overall project design.





QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or other equivalent certification from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 10 years of technical safety, fire protection and / or process safety engineering experience
  • Highly proficient in fire & gas detection mapping software (e.g., HAZMAP 3D)
  • Highly proficient in PIPENET
  • Proficient in AutoCAD a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Occasional field visits, climbing stairs, ladders and lifting up to 25 lbs
