POSITION OVERVIEW


The Senior Trader, Gas Supply reports directly to the Director, Gas Supply and Trading, and is responsible for execution of financial and physical gas trading as well as supplying gas to both Sabine Pass Liquefaction (SPL) and Corpus Christi Liquefaction (CCL) terminals. The Senior Trader, Gas Supply must be willing to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment and be able to communicate information quickly and clearly.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Manage daily, month-ahead, and seasonal volumes delivered to SPL and CCL by efficiently and economically dispatching gas supply into the terminals taking into account all physical and financial market conditions.

  • Work closely with fundamentals team to develop point of view on supply/demand balance for US natural gas market and regional gas markets.

  • Leverage point of view and research results into discrete, actionable trade strategies for both basis and flat price.

  • Actively manage fluctuating plant loads and interruptions to supply portfolio, including after hours and during weekends and holidays.

  • Ensure scalability of the Gas Supply platform via more efficient processes, including automation of existing tasks and build out of additional trading tools.

  • Prepare presentations that articulate Gas Supply forward strategies and results achieved to reach a broad audience, including Cheniere senior management, Board of Directors, and various external customers.

  • Work closely with plant operations, scheduling, middle office, and risk management.

  • Develop and maintain up-to-date position and PnL reports for both facilities both in the short-term and long-term.

  • Commitment to Gas Supply growth and profitability. Understands the critical nature of the work and how it fits into the wider mission of the Company.

  • Attend industry events and conferences to ensure good business relationships.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 


Knowledge:


In-depth understanding of natural gas markets and the United States pipeline grid. Additional qualifications include economic thinking skills in order to have a basic understanding of trading decisions and be able to provide daily interaction on optimization.


 


Additionally, a broad understanding of the relationship between a public company and its shareholders will prove valuable. This candidate must understand protocol and etiquette required to assist in arranging high level visits to meet with investors and executives and be able to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of staff. An understanding of the legal aspects for material presented and communicated in an Investor Relations capacity is necessary.


 


Skills:



  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills 

  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Bloomberg 

  • Strong problem solving, analytical acumen in statistics and evaluation of data; resourceful and innovative 

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with a thorough understanding of stock valuation techniques 

  • Significant intellectual curiosity with eagerness to take personal initiative and ability to work independently with sense of urgency when necessary 

  • Capable of executing multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy on short notice 

  • Ability to translate financial information and concepts into simple communications 

  • Self-directed, highly flexible, adapts to a rapidly changing environment and able to excel with limited direction or supervision 

  • Proficient project management skills with ability to manage complex projects and to establish and achieve aggressive project objectives. 

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work under pressure, excellent attention to detail 

  • Ability to conduct research, analyze information and produce quality work products in a consistent, efficient, and timely manner 

  • Ability to handle confidential information with great sensitivity

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 




  • Education, Training and Certifications: Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, Finance or Accounting or equivalent business experience.


  • Experience: Minimum five (5) years’ experience in energy, Gas Marketing, and Physical/Financial Gas Trading.

Operates independently within approved guidelines, and with minimum supervision. Delivers pertinent information in a timely manner to management.


 


WORK CONDITIONS 



  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others. 

  • Often exposed to stressful situations.

  • Work will be required from home, after normal work hours, and on weekends. 

  • Will be subject to an “on call” schedule.

  • Periodically travel as business requires.
