The Impact You'll Make in this Role

The Supply Chain Excellence Leader will deliver end-to-end supply chain improvement by driving best in class inventory strategies through effective materials management across our global Solventum value streams. The experienced professional must have a strong inventory management background and excellent communication skills to deal with complex issues at all levels of the organization. This position requires a relentless focus on delivering results and an ability to quickly adapt while operating in a dynamic environment.

As a Supply Chain Excellence Leader, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Developing and implementing strategies and best practices to optimize days inventory outstanding while improving cost-to-serve.

  • Leading projects to identify and execute inventory flow improvements across the end-to-end supply chains.

  • Collaborating with the reporting and analytics teams to develop inventory health metrics and tracking tools.

  • Executing on our product segmentation approach by aligning inventory targets and performance with customer and market needs.

  • Working with supply chain and operations teams to drive efficient use of inventory buffers to maximize service performance while minimizing inventory carrying cost.

  • Engaging with the business and supply chain teams to optimize inventory planning parameters and make-to-stock vs. make-to-order decisions.

  • Partnering with sourcing teams to accurately forecast external material requirements and optimize raw material inventory levels.

  • Utilizing machine learning and AI models to identify opportunities and continuously improve inventory performance.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher AND (10) years of combined experience in supply chain and/or operational roles

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, production operations management, materials management, industrial engineering, operations research, mathematics.

  • APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certification

  • Green Belt/Black Belt certification and/or process improvement and project management experience

  • Knowledge and extensive experience in supply chain strategies and processes such as order management, demand management, inventory management, and parameter management.

  • Experience with supply chain network & inventory optimization, simulation, and design.

  • Understanding of advanced supply chain concepts and their financial impact (inventory turns, cash flow and working capital).

  • Able to articulate & communicate clearly (written and oral), comfortable engaging users at various levels to learn, teach, and understand.

  • Experiencing leading large initiatives and managing change.

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $183,301 - $224,034, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
