Job Description:

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Schedule and plan production across all Pet Food manufacturing facilities to meet customer order and achieve inventory targets. Oversees leadership of production planning managers at each facility by reviewing production schedules. Produces specialized schedules.

ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads team of Plant Production Planners. Provides technical direction and assigns tasks and responsibility. Oversees plant-based Production Planners and evaluates work performance by efficacy of schedules produced. Works with Production Planners to continuously improve scheduling processes, inventory targets, and efficiency.

Network optimization. Determines what products get produced at each Pet Food manufacturing facility. Analyzes cost, freight, and efficiency to decide optimal production planning at each location to satisfy customer demand. Implements continual process improvement in regards to product schedules to reduce schedule changes, reduce changeovers, and optimize inventory. Cooperates with Pet Food Supply Chain team in continually supporting process improvement.

Production Scheduling Oversight. Reviews all schedules generated by production planning managers and ensures that plant production schedules at each plant are created in order to achieve customer service and inventory level targets. Performs post-production audits, and reports the results of the schedule efficiency in optimizing production goals. Provides updates of inventory level and schedule efficiency to executive team. Manages employees. Directs and supervises employees' work activities and monitors work performance. Collaborates with Human Resources to screen, interview and hire candidates. Administers disciplinary actions and recommends performance improvement actions in collaboration with the HR Manager. Monitors work performance and recommends compensation decisions based on guidelines. Follows Simmons values to develop and maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees. Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer. Visually verifies information, often in small print. Communicates with Customers, Vendors, or Employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail. May present information to small or large groups. Move about in a manufacturing environment, office environment, and surrounding property.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): As required by visiting facility.

Travel: Some travel domestically and internationally to and from multiple facilities or work-sites, possibly requiring overnight stays.

Technical Experience: 5 years experience in Supply Chain or Logistics, with 3 years experience managing a team.

Industry Experience: Preference for poultry or food processing organization. Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or 4 years related work experience. Preferred Education: N/A
