A Day in The Life

As a Software Manager working at Medtronic, you will be a leader in the software development for the Workflow Management of our robotic systems. This team creates software that managements the system workflows, allowing subsystems to synchronize on the desired system behavior. You will establish best practices with your teams, partner with test engineers and quality engineers, and work with Product Management. You will be a voice in the wider software organization and participate in workstreams to manage software development processes across the organization.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:


  • Lead a team of workflow management software developers as a discipline leader and representative
  • Mentor and coach developers
  • Provide management representation for projects and deliverables
  • Provide career development opportunities for team members
  • Partner with the greater software organization, systems engineering, quality, and validation groups
  • Participate in design reviews and code reviews
  • Establish best practices for the functional area, as well as general software practices for the wider organization

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 6 years of relevant experience.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of common software design and development practices
  • Experience developing C++ based applications
  • Experience developing Simulink/Stateflow applications
  • Experience developing software in an IEC 62304 (or equivalent) regulated environment
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum development practices
  • Experience developing software with Python
  • Experience leading a team of software engineers, either as a manager or as a technical lead
