Job Summary/Basic Function:
Position Overview
Reporting to and working closely with the Senior Associate Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Reunion Giving will help execute a full-cycle strategy designed to meet donor participation and revenue goals for alumni celebrating a Reunion. They will collaborate with Alumni Engagement, Direct Marketing/Communications, and Stewardship to execute an overall engagement, messaging, solicitation, and marketing strategy for all Reunion classes; the incumbent is charged with executing a plan to grow Reunion giving totals beyond today’s roughly $1M in immediate use funds as well as drive increases in the number of major and principal gift commitments secured.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Organizes and coordinates reunion giving efforts by setting participation and dollar goals for classes celebrating a reunion year and developing a strategic plan to meet these goals Initiates and oversees all class-wide reunion-giving direct marketing and works with the Senior Associate Director to ensure it aligns with the team’s holistic plans.
  • Identifies, recruits, trains, briefs, and motivates Reunion Giving volunteers for 13+ Reunion Classes. Provide ongoing support for Reunion Giving volunteers and assists volunteers with their outreach to Wheaton alumni in asking for gifts to the college.
  • Manage a portfolio of 75-100 alumni who have the capacity to make a leadership gift during their reunion year. Cultivate and personally solicit identified prospects through donor visits (in-person and virtual), phone calls, and drafted correspondences.
  • Serve as a member of the annual giving team, focused on supporting group-wide initiatives like days of giving and other team initiatives that helps to secure donors and dollars for the annual giving program.
  • Attend department, division, and campus-wide meetings. Attend and appropriately staff division-wide events and programs for students, alumni, parents, and friends. Some night and weekend work is required, especially during Advancement events, Family & Friends Weekend, Fall Fest, and Commencement/Reunion.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least two to three years of annual giving experience, preferably in nonprofit fundraising environments.
  • Demonstrated success in managing volunteers and volunteer programs; oversight of fundraising volunteers highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written, verbal, presentation, and listening) skills.
  • Can work independently and collaboratively; multitask, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines without compromising quality in a demanding, high-volume work environment.
  • Must be able to engage and build relationships with colleagues, faculty, leadership, staff, alumni, volunteers, donors, and other external constituents.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard applications (including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Zoom) and experience with CRMs or other fundraising systems.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $55,000 – $60,000.
