ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions include installing, operating, and maintaining both test customer instrumentation and MCL plant instrumentation. Operate and maintain the FMCS and associated equipment; design, fabricate, install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and checkout of special instrumentation to support test and plant operations; modify existing plant instrumentation and install upgraded systems to improve equipment performance; evaluate the effects of modifications to plant instrumentation on equipment performance. Install test and plant instrumentation in extreme environmental conditions in the vicinity of high voltage equipment, high noise areas, high and hard to reach locations, and around large rotating machinery.
GENERAL DUTIES: Install test and plant instrumentation in extreme environmental conditions in the vicinity of high voltage equipment, high noise areas, high and hard to reach locations, and around large rotating machinery. Provide technical support for improvement and modernization efforts associated with the FMCS including activities such as development of acceptance tests, systems specifications (both hardware and software), interface and maintainability requirements, and technical risks. Conduct engineering analyses and fabricate and install chemical, mechanical, and electromechanical equipment to support operation, maintenance, and improvement of the Steam Generation and Distribution System, AMUs, and Evaporative Cooling Tower which includes providing technical advice and consultation to test and plant engineers, chemical treatment technicians, and environmental specialists to ensure Government and commercial guidelines are met. Conduct analyses as necessary to determine the amount of conditioned air required to support aircraft engine operations; and operate the Air Make-up System instrumentation to meet the requirements for various test scenarios and environmental conditions, including two simultaneous test in two different chambers.
OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties may be assigned to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must have either formal electrician/electronics training acquired through vocational or military service school training or a certified electrician/electronics apprenticeship program and 10 years’ commercial/industrial experience in the electrician/electronics trade or, 15 years’ commercial/industrial experience in the electrician/electronics trade.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in temperature extremes from -65 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to lift loads as heavy as 75 pounds. Works at heights up to 70 feet in elevation from ladders or high reach equipment. May be required to work under difficult physical and environmental conditions both inside and out and climb tall structures and work at heights for extended periods of time. Required to work in extreme environmental conditions in the vicinity of high voltage equipment, high noise areas, and around large rotating machinery. Position requires crawling, bending, stooping, and working in various awkward positions.
