As a Civil Engineer at Wood, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of projects for our Minerals and Metals clients. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that meet client requirements while adhering to industry standards and best practices. This position offers an opportunity to showcase your technical expertise, leadership skills, and industry knowledge in a dynamic and challenging environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Business Development team in identifying business opportunities. Contribute to project proposals and plans to determine timeframe, civil engineering activities, skills requirements, and assignment of civil engineering resources to various phases of the project.
  • Lead and manage civil engineering scopes of projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Review and document project requirements.
  • Complete, review and or sign off on functional, preliminary, and detailed designs of site preparation, storm water management, site grading, drainage, access roads, plant roads, haul roads, utility facilities, containment facilities, and fencing for projects in the mining industry.
  • Approve civil engineering design criteria, specifications, and standards, and adopt, and or verify that, these codes, standards, and regulations are followed in designs.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct technical reviews and approve vendor documentation, purchase requisitions, price inquiries, and prepare Letter of Recommendations for civil engineering scopes.
  • Supervise and coordinate work of civil engineering design team.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure that all civil engineering deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Establish strong relationships with Minerals and Metals clients, understanding their needs, and providing tailored engineering solutions. Participate in project review meetings and act as a point of contact for technical discussions and project updates regarding civil engineering.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and drafters, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Provide support during project construction activities.





QUALIFICATIONS



Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • 5+ years of civil engineering experience, including 3 years of design experience working with an engineering firm, on minerals and metals projects.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Water Cad, XP Storm, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Understanding of geotechnical and hydrology reports.
  • Understanding of industry-specific regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Job Requirements:

  • Authorization to lawfully work in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.
