The Insurance Representative facilitates the accurate and timely filing of medical claims to insurance carriers. This process includes corresponding with patients to obtain missing information, diligently following up with insurance companies to ensure payment, and correcting errors on claims that were rejected. In addition, the Insurance Representative handles insurance refund requests, submits appeals for denied claims, and interacts with patients who have questions regarding their financial responsibility for medical services rendered through Semmes Murphey Clinic.

Requirements:

We are searching for a candidate who:

  • is familiar with the concepts, terminology and practices within the medical insurance field
  • is able to communicate effectively and persuasively in both positive and negative situations
  • can skillfully gather and analyze information and appropriately respond to routine problems
  • will provide excellent customer service while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years' work experience related to medical claims reimbursement, preferably in a large medical practice or with a medical insurance carrier.

The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), various software programs, and internet applications. Organizational skills with attention to detail are required.
