BC Forward is looking for Member Advocate I (Remote - CST)


Position Title: Member Advocate I (Remote - CST)





Location: 7990 Interstate 10, #300, San Antonio, TX 78230




Anticipated Start Date: 5/9




Expected Duration: 6 months




Job Type: Contract




Shift: 8am-5pm or 8:30am- 5:30pm or 9am-6pm




Pay Rate: $17.50/hr on W2.




Note: Need Prior healthcare Customer Service Experience, Bilingual - SPANISH and Preferred (Community Health Worker - CHW) Certification.




Job Description:



Position Purpose: Act as an advocate for the Member and a liaison between the Health Plan and Provider(s) to ensure availability and access to care. Establish a community presence, promote Member education, identify and resolve any systemic barriers that limit Members access to appropriate care.

The MA will open her email for complaint assignments, escalations., webortal and contact us request that require member outreach. The team works on TruCare daily assignments sent from STAR Plus Member Support Center and OMNI assignments from STAR Kids call center. The MA is required to validate (PCP/Specialist Search, community resources, scheduling appointments with PCP, referral and authorization education with members and providers. Once a monthly team huddle meetings, 1x1, and monthly meetings.

The MA expectations is to be on camera when trained on the job role, huddles, team meetings and 1x1. The metrics expectation once fully trained to work between 18-20 task per day (300-350) per month or higher depending on acquired speed

Required Skills/Experience:
3+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare environment
5-10% travel

Preferred Skills/ Experience:
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Medicare and/or Medicaid experience preferred.
Preferred CHW certification


Education Requirement: High school diploma or equivalent
Software Skills Required:

Skills Required: Microsoft Word 365, Excel, Outlook

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. 3+ years of customer service experience in a healthcare environment. Medicare and/or Medicaid experience preferred.

For Superior Health Plan - Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

* Receive and respond to Member complaints and formal grievances and identify potential access barriers and resolve as indicated in the grievance procedure.
* Investigate and resolve access and cultural sensitivity issues identified by Member Services staff, State staff, providers, advocacy organizations and recipients.
* Participate in local community organizations to acquire knowledge and insight regarding the special health care needs of Members and update and revise educational materials as appropriate.
* Serve as primary contact for Member advocacy groups, human services agencies and the State entities.
* Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
