Job Description:

SUMMARY


The HR Generalist is responsible for managing the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department in a manufacturing plant. This includes a variety of tasks, such as conducting interviews, hiring, managing payroll and benefits administration, overseeing compensation and leave policies, managing employee relations, performance management, and training. As a vital link between the management and employees, an HR Generalist ensures that the organization's HR policies align with legal standards and best practices while supporting strategic planning, data analysis, project management, and drafting policies and procedures.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


* Follow HR Practitioner Job Aids developed for the HRIS systems to meet management and departmental needs regarding payroll and other HR-related items, compile and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to assess trends related to retention, legal compliance, etc.
* Assist in administering analysis, routine, and ad hoc reporting to support HR and employment-related projects and initiatives.
* Help develop, coordinate, and implement all tasks related to specific transformational, HR strategic, and HR technology projects.
* Ability to implement, track, and administer new processes and project deliverables, as requested.
* Identify and propose reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
* Aid in matters related to state and federal regulations and all HR-related disciplines.
* May conduct or assist with internal HR audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Serve as backup for conducting new hire orientations and coordinating training activities with associated compliance components.
* Certify I9 Form and employment verification with E-Verify.
* Address employee grievances promptly and assist with employee investigations, as needed.
* Assist with administering routine leave requests, including FMLA, LOA, STD, etc., to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local law and benefit plan guidelines.
* Respond to routine inquiries from inside and outside the company on employment verifications, paychecks, benefit inquiries, and other payroll-related matters.
* May guide and assist with unemployment claims.
* Provide support with talent development, succession planning, and mid- and year-end performance reviews.
* Coordinate and plan employee recognition events, as needed.
* Provide support for safety initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE


* A bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a similar field is preferred, and/or 3+ years of related experience resolving complex employee relations issues, working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, and performance management, with a track record of increasing roles of responsibility.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
* Background in aerospace, defense, or cable assembly industries favored.
* Experience in robust Lean System, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement management skills.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS


* SHRM SPHR/PHR certification or obtaining certification within one year of employment is highly desired.


LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
* Conversational in any other language preferred.


JOB SKILLS


* Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint is necessary, including advanced knowledge of Excel.
* Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's human resources, recruiting, and talent management systems.
* Experience working with an automated timekeeping system, e.g., ADP, Kronos.
* Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be a self-starter.
* Ability to speak effectively in front of groups of managers and employees.
* Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
* Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
* Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS


As part of their job duties, the employee must sit for lengthy periods while operating a computer. They frequently use their hands to type, handle objects, and communicate verbally. Additionally, they may need to stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds. This role requires lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, reaching at or below shoulder level, and keyboarding. * ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.
* Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.
* Hearing protection in specific locations.
* Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.
