Team is working hybrid and position will be onsite in Fridley, MN, 3 days/week.

This role serves as a member of the Global Controllership team, which is responsible for systems, processes, and procedures associated with preparation of financial statements and supporting a strong internal control environment.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of External Reporting. The primary responsibilities for this position are to support Medtronic's External Reporting initiatives including preparation of Medtronic plc's SEC filings including the annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Q filings, benefit and retirement plans, and annual Irish Statutory Accounts. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a dynamic environment, managing several competing assignments, and being part of a team. The ideal candidate is looking to progressively take-on additional responsibilities and help compile, document, and perform detailed preparation of financial information.

This position will provide a wide array of assignments and experiences and will require the ability to work well and partner with a multitude of organizations and levels (including senior level executives) within Global Finance, Investor Relations, Legal, Public Relations, Treasury, Tax, Compensation & Benefits, Sustainability, and Medtronic's portfolios, operating units, and regions.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Help preparation of the annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Q filings including preparation of financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A and supporting schedules, to ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements. Participate in preparation of annual Irish Statutory Accounts reporting requirements. Review analysis and disclosures and provide meaningful feedback. Ensure high quality work is achieved while meeting necessary deadlines. Proactively partner with a variety of business, functional, and regional partners to provide financial support.
• Actively participate in and lead various Special Projects as assigned by management. Special Projects include a multitude of analysis, reporting, benchmarking, and ad hoc requests that require the ability to obtain necessary information from internal and external sources and prepare comprehensive, cohesive, and understandable presentations. Assist in implementation of process improvements, including usage of DMAIC strategy and tools (A3) for improving processes.
• Assist with preparations for quarterly financial statement review with CFO, Global Controller & Chief Accounting Officer, and VP Financial Services & Systems.
• Assist with addressing reporting, and disclosure questions which may be raised by our global business partners.
• Assist with the preparation of the financial statements for the benefit and retirement plan audits including 11-K filings where applicable.
• Assist as liaison between Medtronic and the external auditors (PwC) for quarterly review and annual audit procedures.
• Assist with the continuous improvement of the global finance policy portal including assisting with posting of policy updates as needed.
• Maintain a high level of understanding of current and proposed accounting and reporting requirements that may impact Medtronic through self-study, outside/web-based seminars, and active participation in professional organizations and personal networks.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree with 2+ years of work experience in Finance and/or Accounting
Nice to Have


  • 4+ years of business experience with emphasis in accounting or finance including 4+ years of public accounting/SEC Reporting experience
  • Experience with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP), financial controls, and other authoritative accounting and reporting guidance
  • Interest in learning and becoming knowledgeable in ESG initiatives and reporting as global ESG reporting requirements evolve
  • Interest in learning and becoming knowledgeable in preparation of annual Irish Statutory Accounts
  • Active CPA
  • Interest in learning and becoming knowledgeable in leveraging generative AI capabilities where possible
  • Skillful in data analysis and analytics to develop financial analysis
  • Ability to work effectively with several levels of management, including senior level executives, and partner with a variety of business, functional, and regional partners to provide financial support
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and desire and ability to learn financial applications (Workiva Wdesk, SAP, Hyperion Essbase)
  • Drive for continuous improvement including the ability to innovate and simplify both finance and operational processes
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and analytical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities while consistently delivering on time/high quality results, including active usage of visual management tools and processes
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, tact, discretion, and diplomacy in decision making support
  • MBA/potential interest in pursuing MBA or other professional degrees

The provided base salary range is used nationally (except in certain CA locations).The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience,certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.
