About the role

PKL Services Inc. provides F-18 organizational level (O Level) maintenance in support of Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX-9). Work is primarily performed at VX-9, Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS), China Lake, California 93555.

As the Aircrew Survival Flight Equipment Technician I, you will be responsible for supervising, performing, maintaining, disassembling, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, examining, fitting, modifying, installing, and determining serviceability of Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS), aircraft survival, and flight equipment such as; helmets, torso harness assemblies, life preservers, parachutes, life rafts, chemical and biological protective devices, survival kits, oxygen masks, anti-G suits. In addition to maintaining and servicing of aircraft installed flight equipment.

Other responsibilities include:

Disassembling, repairing, testing, troubleshooting, examining, fitting, modifying, maintaining, installing, and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as helmets, torso harness assemblies, life preservers, parachutes, life rafts, chemical and biological protective devices, survival kits, oxygen masks, anti-G suits. Working knowledge of operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons. Possess a working knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures, pyrotechnics and explosive devices, and aircraft egress systems. Detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment, and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment. Any and all other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Site Manager.

High School Diploma or equivalent. Are authorized to work in the United States. A minimum of four (4) years of extensive experience in O Level ALSS aviation maintenance. Contractor personnel shall be able to satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check Local Records and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI), eligibility for a SECRET clearance. Shall be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) card privileges to ensure access to flight line workspaces and critical information systems. Will possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel, including the ability to express thoughts in both oral and written communications. Shall perform requirements in a manner that meet or exceeds CNAFINST 4790.2 series, applicable Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedure (NAMPSOPs), Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and local NAMSOP instructions. Shall become familiar and develop a thorough understanding of document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS) OOMA, automated maintenance documentation system within ninety (90) days of employment.

Travel:

Occasional TDY travel is required.

$41.29 hourThis is a full time/ non-exempt/ union position.Additional compensation for selected certifications. The company sponsors group medical, dental, vision, basic life paid coverage plans for the employee/family. A variable hourly Health & Welfare benefit is provided. 401k plan offered with a company contribution.Eleven (11) paid holidays per year.Employees will accrue PTO at a bi-weekly accrual rate of 4.85 hours per pay period. (126 hours annual)Up to four paid days for bereavement leave. Paid jury duty for up to one pay period. Up to $2,000 per year for work related education expenses.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

Primarily in an office environment but may traverse into high noise workshop areas or near active jet aircraft operating ramps. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key). This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. The noise level in the primary work environment is usually moderate. May be exposed at times to moderate discomforts such as heat, cold, rain, wind.
