Bachelors degree in anthropology or directly related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage with the University of South Alabama. Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Responsible for conducting fieldwork to excavate artifacts which includes mapping, surveying, and photographing work sites.
Work is performed under the supervision of a higher level technical superior or Principal Investigator and is reviewed through observation and for results obtained.
Conducts fieldwork to excavate artifacts using hand tools or with the assistance of power tools and gps units.
Maps, surveys, and photographs work sites.
Prepares detailed data recordings.
Washes and conserves artifacts.
Cleans, restores, and preserves artifacts according to accepted chemical and physical techniques and training.
Restores artifacts by polishing, joining together broken fragments, or other procedures, using hand tools, power tools, and acid, chemical, or electrolytic corrosion-removal baths
Treats specimens to prevent or minimize deterioration, according to accepted procedures.
Prepares artifacts for display.
Ability to drive University vehicles to and from work sites.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
Performs related duties as required.
