Hourly rate is $17.00- $19.00 per hour commensurate with experience.

Do you hold your Public Service License (PSL)? Are you looking for meaningful work on a part-time basis? The Village is seeking part-time drivers to work late afternoon and/or early evening to support client transportation to and from programs in the Hartford, Manchester and Middletown areas. Approximately 12 - 24 hours per week. Our Extended Day Treatment (EDT) program provides behavioral health services to children ages 5 to 14. EDT supports children to develop coping skills and express their feelings in healthy, productive ways through clinical and skill groups, play therapy and family therapy. JOB SUMMARY

The Juvenile Transportation/Case Aide is responsible for providing transportation to clients to and from program as scheduled. Primarily travel based or picking up multiple clients within a common destination. The Juvenile Transportation/Case Aide provides feedback to supervisor(s) and staff regarding any problems or difficulties relating to client transports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provides transportation to clients from program as per schedule.
  2. Engages clients while transporting.
  3. Attends trainings and meetings, as needed, to meet the requirements of the position.
  4. Maintains mileage log and all other required documentation.
  5. Reports vehicle problems to Property Management.
  6. Assists in weekly vehicle inspection and completion of forms.
  7. Reports any difficulties with clients while transporting to supervisor.
  8. Observes all traffic laws, safety regulations and safety procedures, i.e., safety belt use.
  9. Supervises behavior of clients while in the agency vehicle and immediately reports any incidents or disclosures.
  10. Engages in strength-based, culturally competent, trauma-informed and gender responsive interactions with clients/families.
  11. Upholds all program expectations.
  12. Promotes a safe, welcoming environment with a focus on risk reduction and positive behavior change.
  13. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness within the vehicle.

Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates in Human Services or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS

  • Public Service License (PSL) endorsment is required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in transporting children or youth.
  • Must be punctual and flexible with scheduling. Evenings and some weekends required.
  • Some knowledge of Juvenile Justice System or Child Protective Services per applicable program.
  • Must be culturally competent to serve diverse client population.
  • Bicultural, Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to carry out basic clerical duties.
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
