SUMMARY



Stampede Ventures Inc, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Welder/Maintenance Tech for its vehicle and trucking fleet in Nome Alaska. The Welder/Maintenance Tech will perform various welding and repairs on trucks trailers and equipment in the Nome Fleet in accordance with all manufacturers' recommendations, and company policy.

Responsibilities




ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position, and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.



  • Work with the Shop Foreman to repair maintain all equipment in AGC, BSDC, SQI and SVI's fleet and keep it in safe, working order.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records of all work done to equipment.
  • Other Duties as assigned.


Qualifications




QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Required (Minimum) Qualifications


  • Must have a valid Alaska Driver's License
  • 3+ years of experience welding and fabricating.
  • 3+ years of Mechanical experience on equipment ranging from lite duty passenger vehicles through heavy hauling on road tractor trucks.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics


  • Ability to Weld, fabricate and perform repairs on equipment in the Nome Fleet.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.


Preferred


  • Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License, Class A
  • Certification in Welding

Job is performed outdoors with almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, bio hazardous materials, dirt, fumes, smoke and/or loud noises.



DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS


  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • No supervisory responsibility


ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS



As a condition of employment, will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results. Must have reliable transportation to/from work.
