SUMMARY

The Same Day Surgery Patient Care Tech provides care to patients under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse and assists Nursing personnel in clerical and diversified activities to maintain an organized unit. Compliance with rules and regulations of all applicable federal, state and local laws as well as PMHC policies is a condition of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Incumbent must have the skills, ability and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

Assists in the collection of assessment data, such as vital signs and intake/output. Subjective and objective data are reported SDS/OR Nurse.
Provides care that meets the patient's activities of daily living, such as bathing, feeding, repositioning, and ambulating, for patients of all ages.
Collects laboratory specimens and answers call lights.
Creates and maintains a comfortable and safe environment for patients, families, and visitors.
Organizes and maintains the patient record.
Notifies personnel as delegated by SDS/OR Nurse.
Answers telephones, call lights, and refers them to the appropriate personnel.
Transports patients and/or families to and from the SDS Unit.
Will float/assist in OR/Scope and PACU as scheduled.
Maintains clerical and patient care supplies on the SDS Unit.
Complies with PMHC Code of Conduct.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

1. High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.)

2. Completion of an approved CNA course.

COMPETENCIES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

1. Licensed as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Nebraska.

2. Current BLS/CPR certification.
