Reporting directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean for the College of Business will provide system-wide strategic visionary leadership and foster a culture of inclusion, engagement, and belonging that inspires students, faculty, and staff to flourish.

Our ideal candidate for the dean position is a seasoned academic leader known for their collaborative, strategic, and decisive approach. They will excel at building relationships and possess excellent communication skills, demonstrating a profound dedication to fostering diversity, inclusion, and a positive internal culture.

The Dean will lead the College of Business by overseeing the identification, development, and maintenance of the quality of current and future programs. This includes procuring and maintaining program accreditations, program assessment efforts, and the enhancement of curricular quality.

The Dean will actively identify and assess opportunities for growth and efficiency, ensuring that standards consistently align with academic excellence. The Dean will hold a Doctoral Degree in a Business related field, or area of Academic Content Expertise (ie. Business, Information Systems, Psychology etc). They will have 3-5 years of leadership experience in higher education overseeing operations of sufficient complexity. The Dean will possess a distinguished record of achievement in the areas of academia, teaching and service.

The successful candidate will believe in and support the student first philosophy while contributing to the overall success of Baker College, while acting as a positive role model and brand ambassador on and off campus. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead development and implementation of key performance indicators relative to driving continuous improvement through both assessment processes and curricular efforts.

  • Maintain appropriate assessment data, prepare reports, and verify compliance with regulatory and specialized program accreditation standards.

  • Informed by data analytics, assess and evaluate current programs, projects and staff assignments to create a dynamic academic environment.

  • Demonstrate a growth mentality and creativity with the acquisition and allocation of resources to address strategic goals that position their respective college within specific niche areas for continued success.

  • Work collaboratively with the deans of the other colleges and serve on institutional committees to advance Academic Affairs priorities.

  • Lead projects or initiatives at the request of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

  • Develop and foster key community and industry partnerships.

  • Serve on the Academic Leadership Team and President's Council.

  • Conduct on-going program reviews, prepare proposals for new programs and program modifications that enhance enrollment and program quality for the College.

  • Explore and engage in best practices with regard to administration, programs, and course delivery.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to promoting a campus culture that values inclusion and diversity.

  • Direct and oversee academic college operations, including budget planning, management and analysis, and faculty load and contracts.

  • Oversee program officials in the content area to ensure compliance with program policies and ensure usage of consistent curriculum and assessment of course/program resources are updated and implemented as outlined for each program. 

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages interdisciplinary research, creativity, and innovation.

  • Oversee program curriculum and evaluate academic program and faculty performance
