The Opportunity…

This is an opportunity to join Segal’s Human Resources unit as a Senior Associate, Benefits and Leave Administration (Associate). The Associate is responsible for administration of benefits and leave of absence processes for active and former Company employees. The position is also responsible for benefits and leave data analysis as well as benefits and leave compliance and reporting regarding federal, state and local laws.

This position reports to the Vice President and Director, Employee Benefits and is based in the New York office, offering a flexible hybrid work schedule.

Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to…

Employee Benefits Administration


  • Assisting in creation of annual enrollment and other benefit communications, including conducting sessions/presentations and related internal training for employees and managers.

  • Assisting with annual benefit renewals and with benefit RFPs.

  • Handing all benefits related inquiries (including health, insurance, wellness, retirement, leave, etc.).

  • Preparing and processing benefits invoices, in addition to wellness program reimbursements and rewards.

  • Managing employee benefit updates in systems; including auditing and processing employee benefit events.

Leave Administration


  • Managing employee benefit Leave of Absence activities, including administering employee Leaves of Absence, tracking Leave of Absence requests, approval determinations, duration, and related issues.

  • Serving as primary point of contact with external third-party leave administrators.

  • Ensuring maintenance of accurate and complete leave of absence records, files, and reporting.

  • Researching new leave regulations, drafting and updating policies and communications.

Benefits and Leave Analysis and Compliance


  • Analyzing benefits and leave data and reporting utilizing the Oracle HRIS/Benefits system and benefit vendor partner systems and data.

  • Reporting on Company leave of absence utilization and trends.

  • Responsible for nondiscrimination testing data reporting.

  • Gathering information for audits.

Gathering and submitting required data for compliance reporting including nondiscrimination testing, San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance, Consolidated Appropriations Act, OSHA, worker’s compensation, etc.

Qualifications


  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, business or related field or commensurate work experience.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of HR experience within a professional services firm and/or progressive corporate environment.

  • Experience with employee benefits/Leave of Absence program administration and HR System data management. 

  • Experience in conducting research, data gathering and analysis, and reporting to include designing and creating dashboards, reports and presentations.

  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications and software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

The ideal candidate will also exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational; analytical and quantitative skills; detail-oriented, effective multitasking skills with ability to prioritize projects; self-motivated with a high affinity for providing top quality customer service; high integrity with ability to handle confidential/sensitive information and exercise good judgment in all decision-making. They will have the ability to problem-solve by defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.

The current salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000 plus opportunity for a discretionary performance bonus based on company profitability and employee performance.
