Job Description:

We are seeking a T&E NAM Mechanical Engineering (ME) Manager to be based in Andover, MA. The ME Manager will increase the mechanical engineering capacity of the organization by building more and better engineering competence through training, mentorship, knowledge transfer, standardization, separation of work, and application of effective problem-solving techniques. The ME Manager must provide leadership, vision and guidance to an engineering team having the mission to create profitable, differentiated solutions for a key offer portfolio of Schneider Electric . The work is exciting and fun, pushing the technology envelope in an open, collaborative, and supportive environment. In this role, you will be working with a multi-disciplined teams to design, implement, and test products in the arena of switching power converters, AI/ML related to predictive maintenance and Liquid-Cooling. You will be responsible for delivering high quality power-related mechanics and cooling at the heart of SE Power Systems.

What will you do?

The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads and manages a team of designers, engineers, and support staff to ensure the technical competency and quality of work performed by the staff. This person will also coordinate with various disciplines within the organization (electrical, software, systems, test engineering, etc.) and will be an integral part of problem-solving complex design challenges.


  • Effectively lead, manage, and mentor the Mechanical Engineering staff with an emphasis on employee growth, project success, and overall performance.

  • Set clear goals and objectives, assess progress, and instill a performance-oriented culture with a focus on accountability.

  • Deploy a strategy that builds, retains, and engages all employees through inclusion and teamwork.

  • Coordinates with various engineering disciplines within the organization to collaborate, optimize, and improve work by participating in strategy sessions.

  • Identifies, champions, mentors, and coaches the development of our less experienced staff and looks for ways to elevate the technical and professional expertise of the team.

  • Effective application of appropriate Engineering, Scientific, and Design Technologies

  • Promoting Subject Matter Experts in the technology platforms within the function

  • Participate and lead where appropriate the technology roadmap of the function to align the organization for increased NPD throughput and quality.

  • Partners with Product Engineering Managers and other organizational functions to meet departmental and organizational goals.

  • Through appropriate engagement and education maintain up-to-date knowledge in all areas of responsibility.

  • Develop standards and processes to improve functional performance and effectiveness of team.

  • Responsible and accountable for the budget within the function group in coordination with organizational goal.

  • Maintain and adopt ultimate responsibility for product development requirements.

  • Identify development tools and plans to maintain our team's development competitive edge.

  • Define a plan to retain and build mechanical engineering technical capabilities.

  • Increase the engineering capacity of the organization by building more and better engineering competence through training, mentorship, knowledge transfer, standardization, separation of work, and application of problem-solving principles.

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?


  • BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering , a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of experience working on and leading mechanical design, verification or testing initiatives.

  • 3-5 years of experience in managing technical teams.

  • Experience in establishing project goals, coordinating resources, and providing technical leadership.

  • Understanding of testing requirements, best practices, and algorithms for power systems hardware.

  • Ability to influence test and qualification processes, improving quality, increasing performance, and reducing cost/resourcing.

  • Working knowledge of FEA, CFD, and DFM/DFA, Thermal Analysis

  • Understanding of power conversion/distribution and mechanical integration these power conversion/distribution systems

  • Working knowledge on CREO, CFD, Coreldraw, Rapid Prototyping, Demonstrated, impactful, and direct engineering leadership.

  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the electronic assembly product lifecycle

  • Experience in managing lab work, data collection, and root-cause analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders and external vendors/partners to track test/qualification status and report progress to organization leaders.

  • Support career development and growth of individual team members and make equitable hiring and talent decisions.

  • Demonstrated innovative, critical & independent thinking, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Highly professional, with the ability to deliver high quality, well-tested work on tight schedules.

  • Excellent collaborative skills, with outstanding written and verbal communication.
