Job Description:

This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE's needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employee's position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office. This position will report to Duluth, MN

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Administer and implement human resources information system (HRIS) processes and programs in areas such as payroll, benefits, employment, compensation, and employee relations.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to manage timely monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals, budgeting, and payroll related reporting.
  • Generate data reports for internal partners and external entities, while working closely with HR staff and organization leadership to identify reporting needs and streamline processes.
  • Coordinate with HR and information technology (IT) staff to plan, modify, and test new applications, software patches, and updates.
  • Conduct surveys on human resources programs, policies, and practices, and establish and maintain internal/external relationships.
  • Manage employment-related records to meet company and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist employees, retirees and supervisors with questions regarding human resources information systems.
  • Address employee questions, research HR policies, and leverage technology for efficient resource utilization.
  • Stay updated on HRIS trends, advancements, and exercise independent judgment in problem-solving and communication. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required

    • Degree in management information systems, human resources, accounting, business administration, or management preferred.
    • Course work in human resources management or accounting, preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A four years or more experience with the above mentioned responsibilities.

    • Experience with Oracle enterprise software, or related HRIS products preferred.
    • Experience with accounting processes and journal entries preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to maintaining data confidentiality.
