Description:



The Front End Software Engineer shall support the customer’s mission through the integration of prototype processing solutions to improve ETL processes, performance and stability of the customer’s products. In addition, contractor shall support the creation of metrics and monitoring capabilities and dashboards for the customer’s products. You will  Support development of GUIs to enable non-technical analysts to review and interact with data.



Job Description



The Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements. These systems might include, but are not limited to, processing­ intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, business management information systems, and systems which incorporate data repositories, data transport services, and application and systems development and monitoring. Works individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Open Source Software (OSS) and/or Commercial Off­The-Shelf (COTS) or Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) software in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components. Experience developing in Unix. Ability to perform shell scripting. Working knowledge of Configuration Management (CM) tools and Web Services implementation.



Qualifications Required: 




Must have an active TS/SCI with Poly. 



Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.



Required Skills:



  • Experience using the Unix command line

  • Angular 12/13, Typescript, Python 3

  • Pandas, PIL/Pillow, Wand/Imagemagick, Docker

  • Experience writing scripts using Bash

  • Experience developing in Java in a Unix environment

  • Experience developing, configuring, troubleshooting, and sustaining large Accumulo cloud deployments in a Unix environment

  • Experience developing with multiple programming languages such as C, Java, and Python

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker

  • Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes

  • Experience with distributed file systems such as Ceph

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Willing and ability to work with clients either on-site or from an ERI Corporate Office


Desired Skills:



  • General HPC knowledge regarding compute, networking, memory, and storage components

  • Experience with CI/CD principals and concepts using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, and Bamboo

  • Experience with IaC principles and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and SaltStack

  • Experience with the Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)

  • Experience with scala/spark
