Texas Biomed is seeking an Animal Care Supervisor - Macaque group to perform supervisory duties over animal care personnel involved in tasks requiring special skills and a high level of technical expertise in the care and use of laboratory animals in biomedical research programs.


The Role:

· Coach, mentor, motivate, lead and manage animal care staff in the Macaque areas to include but not limited to scheduling, resource management, performance evaluations, addressing personnel matters related to conduct as well as adherence to policies and established practices, establishment of goals and expectations.

· Oversees the recording of data for daily reports such as husbandry records, clinical observations, inventory reports and other task related reporting.

· Assures that animal care staff follow and comply with standards of veterinary care and properly execute IACUC approved SOP's and research activities

· Manages all aspects animal care program related duties.

· Administers the animal care training program to include: determining the appropriate training, scheduling training sessions, and maintaining competency requirements.

· Participates in and prepares for on-site IACUC, USDA and AAALAC inspections and incumbent is responsible for the subsequent coordination of corrective actions.

· Controls inventory by ordering all supplies that are necessary for clinical purposes as well as safety supplies.


Our Ideal Candidate:

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Associate of Science degree or 60 hours as a veterinary technician or in biological sciences or health administration is preferred.

· Five years of animal experience required. Two of the 5 years must be in a veterinary technical role with demonstrated supervisory skills.

· AALAS Certificate at the LAT level or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) required. LATg certification preferred.
