Production Technician (Lumberton) at Idaho Forest Group

Job Description:

As an IFG Production Technician you will work in a wide variety of manufacturing functions. You will learn basic to advanced operations for each machine center at the mill, gain the knowledge to assist with basic trouble shooting and repair of equipment, as well as clean-up duties. This opportunity is ideal for individuals that have a strong passion to learn and develop new skills while exploring the different career paths IFG can provide.  We heavily focus on cross-training so you will have the opportunity to quickly gain skills and advance through the levels (1 – 5) within the established Production Technician Skills Matrix. 


 


Basic Functions:



  • Serve as a machine operator for a wide variety of functions, machinery and workstations which provides the opportunity to gain skills, learn and advance.

  • Learn the safe and efficient operation of each machine assigned

  • Use of mobile equipment to transfer waste and other materials to designated area

  • Use of hand tools to maneuver logs/lumber and clean area (i.e. rake, shovel, broom, pike pole, etc).

  • Use air hose to clean machines free of dust and debris

  • Safe use of chainsaw or other power tools when needed

  • Keep working areas clean at all times/clean up during downtime

  • Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with rules, regulations and JSAs for specific machine center

  • Consistently keep a production level work pace

  • Other duties as needed or assigned


 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Valid Driver’s License

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to safely operate a Forklift

  • Previous manufacturing/machine operator experience preferred

Physical Requirements:


 Move safely, quickly, and perform duties with repetitious movement.  Sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs. Repetitive use of hands; grasping controls, tools and lumber. May frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 75lbs and rarely lift up to 100lbs.  Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations and airborne particles (sawdust).
