Summary: Among Tour Professionals and identified amateurs, assure proper golf ball selection for competitive play from stock, CFT (customized for tour) and available prior generation models. As a component of this evaluate prototypes and communicate player performance and preference commentary to the product development team.


Responsibilities:



  • As the primary resource to Tour Professionals, assure proper golf ball fit. Work with the product development team to develop and evaluate prototypes for next generation and/or CFT models.

  • Independently conduct both on-course product performance tests and player evaluations on all the professional tours and selected amateur events.

  • Investigate, evaluate, and report all player performance, preference, and quality feedback, including both Titleist and competitive models. Seek to anticipate changes in player priorities for ball selection.

  • Utilize the established databases for player launch conditions and player performance data and use analytic tools (such as Tableau) to create reports related to player ball selection and performance.

  • Seek best practices for tour player fitting and product education.


Requirements:



  • BS required in a technical or communications field preferred. Special consideration for PGA/PGM education. A strong golf background coupled with a BS in Psychology would be considered.

  • A minimum of 2 year's experience as Assistant Tour Consultant and 3 years of prior player and/or product testing. Experience fitting golf equipment required, with a strong preference for golf ball fitting. Must have a demonstrated ability to utilize current generation ball and flight measurement tools. Employment history in a field placing a high demand on interpersonal skills and communication (both verbal and written) is preferred. Special consideration for applicants with a history of competitive golf (including USGA, college, Junior Golf, etc) and/or applicable golf industry experience.

  • Must pass Health Services screening, including accurate color vision. THIS JOB IS ON THE ROAD with overnight stays most weeks. Must be able to travel extensively both domestically and internationally. Schedules and test requirements WILL change unexpectedly, and flexibility is required. THIS JOB WILL BE CONDUCTED OUTDOORS, generally on a golf course. It essentially consists of walking the golf course with players. There will be exposure to the sun, wind, rain, and less than ideal temperatures. Must not be adversely affected by chemicals in a laboratory, golf ball manufacturing or golf course environment. Must be capable of lifting 40 lbs.

  • Must be knowledgeable and conversational within the contexts of golf ball and club performance and design, swing mechanics, the game of golf and its history, course design, players both current and historical, Rules of Golf, etc... The game's best players must accept the candidate as "one of us" to achieve maximum credibility. Must be an effective TWO-WAY translator bridging the chasm between players and more technically oriented product development team members.
