Credit Analyst, Trade Credit Division at Allied World

Job Objectives

We are seeking a credit analyst in the Trade Credit division. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting the trade credit division by providing financial analysis and credit write-ups on key Buyer/Obligor exposures the division manages or has opportunity to quote as part of a trade credit submission.  There could be some travel requirements.  The analyst and underwriter will occasionally be invited to join meetings with Buyers/Obligors to gain further insights into the company’s business. The position is hybrid with 3 days in office (New York) and 2 days remote.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

·         The Credit Analyst is responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of individual companies based on the review of financial statements, credit modeling tools and score cards, third party analyst reports, news items and other relevant information.

·         Prepare concise written credit evaluations including assignment of risk ratings and credit limit recommendations within the context of Allied World’s credit policy.

·         Conduct periodic reviews on key debtors and industry concentrations.

·         Prepare quarterly portfolio updates for management on the division’s exposures.

·         Assess specific limit requests for individual submissions and provide feedback to underwriters on the requested limits within the context of Allied World’s risk appetite and the underwriting guidelines of the division.

·         Establishing overall aggregate exposure recommendations for specific Buyer groups.

·         Support the Chief Credit Officer in his role of managing the overall credit exposure for the division.

·         Interact with the underwriters managing the short term Trade Credit book of business to establish both transaction and aggregate limits.

·         Periodic review and assessment of Country exposures and analysis of the divisions overall exposures in specific regions.

·         Ensure the company’s credit exposure management database is accurate and current and ensure all obligor information is properly recorded.

·         Review the in-house tools periodically and provide input and recommendations for continually improving the process.

·         University – Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a closely related discipline.  Financial analysis specialization a plus.

·         Formal Credit Training or Professional designation such as CICP (Certified International Credit Professional) or progress towards the CFA designation a plus.

·         2 - 3 years experience in a credit/financial analysis position.

·         Detailed knowledge and understanding of financial statements such as the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash flows.

·         Understanding of collateral and different instruments used to mitigate risk such as letters of credit, promissory notes, guarantees, pledged assets, netting agreements, etc.

·         Bi-lingual written and oral communication skills (Spanish and/or Portuguese) a plus.

·         Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound business decisions based on the analysis of financial and non-financial credit information.

·         Able to form recommendations through their analysis.

·         Ability to conduct some country analysis at a high level

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), advanced knowledge with Excel spreadsheets a plus.

·         Proficiency with credit tools such as Dun & Bradstreet, Experian, S&P Capital IQ a plus.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·         Detail oriented, ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, strong quantitative skills and ability to meet deadlines.

·         Willingness to take initiative and work independently.

 

Compensation:

 

$75,000 - $100,000

 

The annualized base pay range is a broad range based on analysis of similar positions in the market. The actual base pay for the position may be above or below the listed range and determined by a number of considerations, including but not limited to complexity, location, and scope of the role, along with experience, skills, education, training, and other conditions of employment. Base salary represents one component of Allied World’s comprehensive total reward package, which may also include annual incentive compensation rewards.
