System Application Engineer – Access Controls at Schneider Electric USA, Inc

Job Description:

What will you do?

This position is responsible for designing, installing, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting integrated low-voltage systems including access control, video surveillance systems (VSS or formerly known as CCTV), elevator destination dispatch, intrusion detection, intercom, telecom, network in addition to others. They will also be responsible for programming, configuring, testing, and verifying multiple physical security systems. Looking for a self-motivated project team lead that will oversee the execution of a large construction (ground-up) security project that includes but not limited to: managing material procurement, overseeing installation, driving subcontractors, delegating tasks, coordinating engineers / technicians, etc.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Install, program, and commission various types of devices, equipment, and software

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues

  • Provide field coordination and drive subcontractors on multiple projects

  • Read and interpret contract / engineering shop drawings to abide by contract specifications, and validate project installations

  • Work through the full lifecycle of a construction project, and perform site surveys to track and document field progress / readiness

  • Perform field start-up / mobilization, and system start-up services

  • Perform software system installation, troubleshoot equipment and device communications

  • Customer-facing position - Will interface directly with general contractors, subcontractors, and end-users on a daily basis

  • Collaborate with project teams (managers, engineers, technicians) to coordinate designs and perform installation

  • Engineer resolutions for any field obstacles / issues

  • Perform redlines and project closeout by providing final record / as-built drawings

  • Perform FAT (Facility Acceptance Tests), SAT (Site Acceptance Tests), and other point-to-point testing / verification.

  • Providing customer training for the various commissioned systems

  • Engineer hardware / software designs per plans and specifications

  • Participate in field audits of installed systems

  • Verify the quality and content of required design submittals, project drawings, and estimates

  • Resolve design issues through RFI's, field surveys, and documentation

  • Material / equipment selection and procurement

  • Maintain and adhere to standards for estimating and budgeting hardware or software designs

  • Travel to customer / project sites is required

  • Other responsibilities / duties may be assigned


What Qualifications will make me successful?


  • Four (4) year college degree required or equivalent work experience

  • 3-5 years of related work experience required

  • Understanding of access control, video surveillance systems (VSS or formerly known as CCTV), intrusion detection, and intercom systems including software programming and multi-system integration concepts

  • Experience with various security vendor hardware and software

  • Strong experience with hand tools, especially multimeters

  • Strong attention to detail, project documentation, and engineering concepts

  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of networking and IP concepts

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, or other CAD software

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office programs including but not limited to: Teams, Visio, SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word

  • Excellent organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization.
