The Lead Scientist Product will lead the Research and Engineering (R&E) product function specific to Huggies Baby Wipes for Development &

Commercialization Renovation and Innovation programs for KCNA. As a member of the R&E team, this role will work in conjunction with Product Team members, Engineering, Materials, Marketing, Sales, Quality and Manufacturing to lead product activities for projects. The incumbent reports to an R&E Manager and receives work direction from the Manager, Technical Leader, and Project Leader.

Job Accountabilities:


  • Identify and commercialize product renovation/innovation aligned to meet consumer and business needs within the Personal Care business. 


  • Seek and understand competitive technologies and innovation.


  • Provide leadership within a team environment to drive renovation/innovation from initial product prototype, through pilot-scale demonstration and onto commercial assets.


  • Collaborate broadly inside the organization with R&E, pilot plant, mill operations, and cross-functional disciplines.


  • Works closely with the Marketing, I&A, PCS, Materials, and Engineering teams among others, to achieve project goals.


  • Provide coaching and mentorship to other members of the Huggies Baby Wipes Product and Projects team.


Qualifications:

Required (essential for the job):


  • Bachelor’s or advanced engineering or relevant scientific discipline degree


  • A minimum of 3 years relevant product and/or engineering experience in a variety of assignments. 


  • Strong analytical skills.


  • Effective communication skills with the ability to discuss technical issues in a business environment.


Preferred (not essential, but desired):


  • Experience in product development of consumer products, design of experiments, and data analysis.


  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or to lead small teams to complete assignments and related activities in an acceptable manner. 


  • Displayed strength of building relationships and build trust characteristics when working cross functionally.


  • Desire and awareness to seek and understand competitive technologies and innovation.
